Who are the best 3 male singers (in band or solo) and female singers (in band or solo) today in the CHR/POP genre under the following criteria:
1) Undisputed legitimate vocal skill and ability to perform live. Give this element a score of 1 to 15 points. 2) Commercial album success since 2000 (minimum platinum). Give this element a score of 1 to 10 points. 3) Commercial Pop radio success since 2000 (consistant hitmakers). Give this element a score of 1 to 10 points 4) Vocal versatility. Give this element a score of 1 to 15 points.
The 3 male and female singers with the highest number of points obviously is the goal. Please list your top 3 M/F singers and their point totals.

This is not an easy task. Limiting it to CHR/POP makes it even more difficult and shows how fleeting success is at this genre. It really is "here today gone tommorrow." Who would have thought Pink would have flopped as badly as she has after making such deep, artistic, meaningful music? The point is the answers to the questions are not simple and if you take some time and consider all who are eligible and analyze each honestly your list will probably surprise you. I don't consider myself an R. Kelly fan but when I did this test this is the way Kelly scored on it: 1) Kellys live performances diminish the impact of his music. He is not a very inspiring "live" performer - I was not impressed or fully engaged in his concert performance I saw in New Orleans. Score 9 2) Kelly has had great commercial success with multiple projects under his own name and collaborators. He is extremely prolific. Score 10 3) Kellys Pop radio success has been consistant and phenominal. He has been one of the most consistant hitmakers on the chart in the last four years. Score 10 4) Versatility - R. Kelly is a real music craftsman with as much creativity and versatility as any male singer in Pop today. Score 12
Thats a score of 41 out of a possible score of 50. He is definately one of my top 3 but I wouldn't have thought so before I took the test.

14/15 on vocal skill/live performance? for Beyassé? hummmm Yeah, Beyonce sings her ass off. Her performance of "Dangerously in Love" at the Grammy's was the year's best live performance. Everyone was on there their feet in utter amazement!

Heres 2 more from my list.
Christina Aguliera 1. She is a legitimate vocal star with fine performance skills that translate well in "live" performances. Score 13
2. Xtinas sales for "Stripped" are great. Score 8
3. Xtinas consistant radio presence is the proof of her success. Score 9
4. Xtinas vocal skill is unquestionably top notch. If she has a weakness it is her lack of ability to impart warmth, sympathy, or delicate femininity - therefore her versatility suffers. Score 11
Total score 41.
Usher
1. Ushers best assets are his live performance skills: vocal and dance. He has a unique flexible voice, good tone, and great interprative skills. Score 12
2. Ushers skill and popularity are backed up by massive sales success. Score 10
3. Ushers radio success is the best of the millenium. Score 10
4. Usher has not demonstrated a lot of versatility because his familiar music path is so well written, composed, arranged, and produced. I don't doubt if he wanted he could find success in other vocal styles. score 12
Total score 44
