When Tamyra Gray was recording her J Records album is it true that she recorded *or planned to* a duet with Ruben Studdard? *I read this from another site*.
How many songs did she actually record for J Records before she was dropped?

I did a Google search on your question and the first listing answers your question. You could eliminate 90% of the posts you make asking questions if you looked first.

www.foxesonidol.com/cgi-bin/ae.pl?mode=4&article=article1303.art&page=1*Possible track: “If This World Were Mine” (Duet w/ Tamyra Gray): Ruben & Tamyra are slated to cover this Luther Vandross & Cheryl Lynn classic. The original version was performed by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, but I expect Ruben to stick closer to the Luther version. As of now, it has only been confirmed to be on Tamyra’s album, but J. Records could put it on Ruben’s album to build anticipation for Tamyra’s album. There could very well be more than 11 or 12 tracks, but this is all the info I have for now. Hang in there, Ruben fans. Just seven more weeks until the album hits the shelves.

Well, they did record a duet of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" that appeared on the AI Christmas album.

Is it too late for her to sign with Sony?

Is it too late for her to sign with Sony? Yes. The only American Idol who is not washed up is Kelly Clarkson. They're all disposable pop stars.

I think Fantasia has more staying power than Kelly because she's so odd.
Her album should be good.

I do think Fantasia may become a star in her own right, like Kelly. Ruben has a nice voice, and he is a really good guy, which is how he won... but he's nothing exceptional, not his voice, definitely not his style, and the only exception to his appearance is that it looks exceptionally like a hot air balloon (sorry). Clay's won't ever make it on radio. Tamyra just isn't doing it, her voice is great but she made too many mistakes in her career.
I have high hopes for Fantasia though... she'll need to have a REAL album though, not a piece of crap like Ruben. I'm sure her lead single will be a hit at least.

The discussion has gotten off topic. Ruben and Tamyra could make some noise if they recorded a great R&B/Gospel tune. The formats are set up perfectly for them--like pins on a bowling lane. They would probably throw a gutter ball anyway.
