The more time a NIN song has at #1, the better. So much more deserving of the spot than 10 Years, although that one was good.

I do like both songs. But 10 Years really deserved their #1 for that great track.

10 Years just basically came out of nowhere, and it still surprises me that Wasteland is up there at the top of the charts with songs from bands like Nine Inch Nails and Weezer especially since its been out on radio for more than half a year now. I'm anxious to see how Through The Iris follows this up in the coming months.

I've come to like "Wasteland", but it just doesn't get you off your feet. But, considering as big of a fuss I've made over the past year about alternative veterans nowadays having all their success handed to them, if I complained too much about 10 Years being #1, it'd be both having eating my cake. It's just the way it got there, if anything, that bugs me. With the song going recurrent, only to be let back a week later, to climb up to #1, it was so obviously about money switching hands. I just wish one of 'em could be legit.
And I'm happy too for NIИ to hit #1 3 straight times, but then again, why couldn't any of his previous hits get even close to #1. It's just more definitive evidence of how lacking in ambition this format is. I'm not saying the vets shouldn't have their hits; they're the ones that have paid their dues and they deserve it. But the format is also about breaking new songs by new bands, and by sticking with the vets all the time, it's just playing it way too safe.
Having said that, this year has been much better than the last in that regard, so far. It's cool that Death Cab and Avenged Sevenfold have stepped up with big hits. Same with She Wants Revenge making a run toward the top 10. It's cool that a lot of stations are open to Matisyahu, like him or not. But none of the above have even made a run towards #1. That's been locked down by the big boys basically for like 2 years straight.
