Mine:

matchbox twenty: The Burn: (Never felt this song. It sounds like it means to get somewhere, but then ends so quickly and leaves you baffled and while you try and think about what it means, "Bent" automatically storms on.)

Live: Unsheathed: (It sounds and feels so uneven. It all starts incredibly silent then Ed screams madly about FREE LOVE and wailing about how it was "another party for the hippies to ruin". In fact, I often see on message boards that many actually felt a little pissed and complained about the lyrical integrity of the song and Ed later looked down on the song more in time.)

R.E.M: The Outsiders: (The first time around, using a rapper in "Radio Song" actually worked in 1991. This time around, Q-Tip butchers this track with an unimpressionable rap and the rest of the track tastes as bland as Safeway Select soups anyway.)

Counting Crows: Monkey: (Though "Recovering The Satellites" is my favorite release of theirs, "Monkey" is the one moment that makes the record look imperfect. With a corny pop beat and lyrics like "I got Ben Folds Five on my radio right now." "Monkey" is certainly forgettable.)

Goo Goo Dolls: Don't Beat My Ass (With A Baseball Bat): It's honestly quite hard to believe these are the same guys that would later craft the beautiful classic "Iris". But back in their more fooling around punk days, this was the closer on their debut record, a song simply about "a wacko come from Alabammy" who becomes a mortal enemy and chases the man in the song with a baseball bat! LOL! )

Absolutely agree here.

I love Something Corporate, and believe their lead singer/chief songwriter writes very maturely, wise beyond his years, and is inspiring to Alternative.

But "If U C Jordan" is one of two exceptions to the art of "Leaving Out The Window" (the other being "I Kissed A Drink Girl" or whatever that's titled). Very generic and whiny.

Stone Temple Pilots - "Pruno": This one isn't terrible, but seems mushy too me. Although the highs on No. 4 were mostly outstanding, there's a couple other tracks like this which I just wasn't feeling. It's like they tried to be Jane's Addiction or something.. Otherwise, I would've mentioned the mediocre "Ride the Cliche'"

Smashing Pumpkins - "Heavy Metal Machine": It's alright, but it goes on a minute or two longer than I'd like. I can't listen to this one too much because it gets unlistenable to hear that overdistortion for 5+ minutes.

There are probably others, but these two are from artists that I like a lot. I'm not including the ones that I don't like because they turn me off in the theme/lyrics.

Mary J. Blige - umm half of the "No More Drama" tracks were almost embarassing, and "Give Me You" on the "Mary" album; the ballads on the last half of her latest album. She gives in to filler too much.

R. Kelly - everything in the past two years.

You think this is cheesy crap. I like the fact that Monica recorded a song in which she was able to express where she stands spiritually.

Here are my choices:
Mary J. Blige: 90 percent of "Love and Life" and 70 percent of the original "No More Drama." She's still the undisputed Queen though.

Monica: Although I liked "Knock Knock" as an album cut, she shouldn't have released it as a single.

Brandy: 75 percent of "Full Moon," and a majority of "Afrodiasc."

Agree with you on this one, Noah.  Just never got into The Burn.  And to think it is one of Paul Doucette and Kyle Cook's favorite MB20 songs.  I just don't get it!

Top 10 Most Awesomely Bad Mariah Carey Songs
#10. My Saving Grace
It was bad enough that the public had to endure "Hero" for the umpteenth time.  Why not throw two of them on an already awesomely bad album?  But wait!  Let's do an overly dramatic take on what sounds like an aged Whitney flop, only without the Whitney vocals.  Sorry Mariah!  If you're going to do gospel, do it with the voice required and not squeezed between songs about your "f**kin two way" and hip-hop fodder.

#09. Yours
There's enough syrupy sweetness here to supply every IHOP in America.  More trite lyrics about rainbows and a boring Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis drum beat that had already worked it's way across Janet's entire "All For You" album.

#08. Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)
Who gets the credit for making such an awesomely bad song?  Mystikal is the criminal here littering his grating voice all over this three minute track of instant headache on wax.  Mariah's voice is higher than Whitney on a bad day and only she and Mystikal could ruin an early 80's club classic.

#07. Reflections (Care Enough)
Maybe this song would be slightly more convincing if Mariah had actually experienced what she was singing about.  I guess she ran out of true personal issues to whine about so she decided to whine about issues that she didn't even have.  No, Mariah you were not put up for adoption as a child.  But I heard that's what you told your shrink.  Check off the box for schizophrenia!

#06. After Tonight
They say if it ain't broke then don't fix it.  But the only things Mariah broke here were records of awesomely badness and maybe a few wine glasses.  So Ms Carey decided to recreate her #1 smash "My All".  She proves nothing here except for the fact that she can outshine Diane Warren (the criminal in the writing case for this "My All" follow-up) in the writing department.

#05. I Only Wanted
We only wanted you to stop after the first awesomely bad "My All" follow-up Mariah!  As if it couldn't get any worse, why not use fake rain drop drum beats?  Those are actually the tear drops of Lyor Cohen for being dumb enough to let this make the cut.

#04. You Had Your Chance
That's right.  You had your chance... to come back with a decent album.  Mission failed!  Haven't you embarassed yourself enough already without singing over one of the most famous hip-hop samples of all time?  Atleast Jermaine Dupri was smart enough to not hand her a beat that could have been a hit for someone else.

#03. X-Girlfriend
Was this song self indulgent Mariah?  Eminem told me the crazy phone messages make you the annoying x-girlfriend.  Okay okay... so this song was written 3 years before the crazy phone messages.  So I guess this song was about how you demanded more attention whenever you were in the room with Derek Jeter.

#02. Did I Do That
Basically we've established by this point that Mariah should not be singing over hip-hop samples.  Did I do that?  Yes, you did Mariah.  Too many times, and that's why you can't even sell enough records now to fund your next tit job.

#01. Boy (I Need You)
Wasn't this song annoying enough six months earlier when it didn't have vocals airy enough to fill the balloons at the birthday parties for all of Lauryn Hill's thirty children?  Maybe Mariah should have taken a cruise with Lauryn Hill to Svengali island instead of releasing this trash.

"yours" is beautiful and one of the best songs on "Charmbracelet"

"x-girlfriend" was 1 of the only songs iliked from "rainbow" and I thought it shoulld have been a single and it fit in very well with that climate of music that was out at that time.

"boy(i need u)" was my jam!!! it was sooo hot! One of my favorites from CB!
