We have a station that just converted from AC to 80s rock. The DJs have only been on about 2 weeks or so. The woman on the morning show just got nailed for speeding last week, 18 over, $236.40. She held a rummage sale on a street corner that they did a remote broadcast from. She had said on the air, she was going to hold a rummage, and use the proceeds to pay for her fine first, then any additional would go to some animal shelter fund. She raised enough to give about $400 to the shelter...was this wrong to use an on air part to raise money to cover a personal debt or am I just over thinking this? Mike

If the radio station okays it, it isn't wrong. If she did it without approval, it is. They can do whatever they want or need to, to promote the radio station, any quirky thing like that can help promote the station.

My local DJ asked for two free tickets to Sunday's Browns game for her and the other DJ. She said they'd come to the person's tail gate party in payment. LOL!

Yeah, I mean they don't get paid jack, and they often have a pretty big influence on how listened to the station is, I can't get upset that they take their perks where they can get them.
They don't even get payola anymore, that all goes to the PD, so they gotta do what they gotta do.

Well, if the woman was broadcasting live from the rummage sale, I'd think the station would have to have approved it.
