I don't think I'll really ever understand why people hated them so much. (sans Spin, the hype wasn't even that big) I thought they were really great. I guess a lot of people wanted ten "Maps"-type songs on Fever and were disappointed. But I am interested in whatever comes next.

I remember when they had Date With the Night as the first single off of that album. They seem to be more of a dance-y indie band than a power ballad driven band. Much as I like Maps, I think that songs like Date With the Night and Y-Control were more them.

I never really got into Date With The Night, however Maps and Y Control were damn catchy songs. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing this soon.

"Date With The Night" f***ing rocked hard. I'm mad that I didn't catch that song the first time around. Probably never would have heard it at all if not for Launches random play.
I like "Maps" (especially the bridge solo...it ruled), but an album full of "Maps"es would have bored me to death.
The new single will have my undivided attention.

I think The Yeah Yeah's are a bit overrated in my opinion in terms of songs, but Karen O is a refreshing, unique voice to the format also, so I'm really mixed.
I just thought the songs overall from their last record "Fever To Tell" were generally simplistic and uninteresting. Lots of repetition, and though their music made them sound hardcore and sometimes they do produce some mean tracks, I feel they just tried too hard and some tracks just came off as annoying.
Then again, it may just be me too, also confessing I think The White Stripes are a bit overrated, in terms of the critics treating them as though they're the IT artist of this decade, like they're larger than life, and like I've said, The White Stripes do have talent and write good songs, but they're also not a GREAT or legendary duo, and it seems the "cool factor" is already showing signs of wear on them with "Get Behind me Satan" struggling to live up to the results of "Elephant".
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Yeah, well I subscribed to Spin through all the bullshit, so that's where I'm coming from. (I still want a copy of the record, but I'll never buy it.)

Spin is part of why many people have misperceptions about which bands are actually big and which bands aren't. They overhype current "indie" artists and put them on the same pedestal as the Pixies, R.E.M., and the Cure. It's a joke to call Death Cab the next R.E.M. and weren't they also the ones who described the White Stripes as a "musical orgasm". Geesh, what a joke.

Yep, this is pretty good. I don't think its as catchy as Maps or Y Control, but its about what I expected to hear.

I like this! It seems like a natural lead single for a follow-up album.

Their name is obnoxious as all hell, but the material I heard from their last album was strong. "Y Control" should have at least dented top 20. I do worry that "Maps", being a slow song, will hold them at one-hit wonder status, even if they do continue to make music and serve their strong "underground" following (see: The Finger Eleven Syndrome).

I've been hearing it lately on XM. It's a good song, and I'm very fond of this group.

Wow, so, when did Tegan and/or Sara replace Karen O as the lead singer? Seriously, this song is pretty cool. I loved the singles from their last album and, though I fell short of buying Fever to Tell, I'm anticipating all the stuff from this one.

I hope not , it's just normal for songs which have a real fast start to slown down a little bit and then pick back up after a while , hopefully that's also the case with this one.

Everything pretty much slowed to a halt due to Pearl Jam's rising on the chart.
I wouldn't think much of Gold Lion slowing down.

I LOVE this song and i cant wait to have their new album. I begin to be a fan of them now.

I'm starting to get a massive Siouxsie and the Banshees vibe from this song, especially in the vocals. That or perhaps I listened to too much Siouxsie and the Banshees recently.
Either way, I think its a thought to keep in mind.

Only female in the top 30...blah.
Anyway...why is this slowing down? Sooo good.
Cheated Hearts needs to be the second single.

Couldn't have said it better, very Tegan And Sara, except for a few howls in song and more guitar, But I Love it! Are you Canadian?
