I guess this is their third single since the video was just released. You can check out the video here: media2.7digital.com/motion/Alkaline_Trio_Burn_High.movOn first impression, I think this is great. I like it better than “Mercy Me”, which I thought was a bore. No wonder it flopped.

I totally agree. This may be the best song I've ever heard from them. I have always felt since I first heard "Stupid Kid" quite a few years ago that Alkaline Trio has the potential to be huge. Unfotunately none of their singles have ever blown up for them to say have a Top 10 hit, although some I remember doing respectively decent.

I thought there was nothing wrong with "Mercy Me" and it was an excellent choice for the 2nd single as far as accessibility goes. "Burn" is great too; it's just a slower song from them, which shouldn't be what they break through with. (Not that I expect this song to get past #45, in the unlikely event that it hits the chart at all.)

I agree that this band can be bigger, but it's something in the production of their music that just isn't radio-friendly. If anything, "We've Had Enough" was their best song I've heard from them and it should have broken them through, at least to say, scrape the Top 20. A perfect stand-up and shout anthem. And "Mercy Me" sounded too much like that song, IMO, although it was still great. I doubt they'll ever get a top 10 though - they're just too un-radio friendly, for lack of a better term. That said, this song doesn't sound like traditional AT, and this will definitely be a contender on my personal chart.
