As some of you know, I run an unofficial listing of all the songs played on Energy 92.7 in San Francisco. And I get emails all the time at the address about song info and occasionally, I get people emailing me thinking they have gotten the station, even though they really haven't. Right off the bat, I'll let them know I am not the station or don't have any affiliation with the station. And on my site, I have a disclaimer stating this. Anyway, I recieved an email about a complaint in regards to one of the advertisements. To protect the identity of the sender, I'll just summarize the problem. The problematic ads were for Gold's Gym. The person who wrote was troubled by how one of the station's DJ's said the following comments about weight and sex. He indicated that if one is not having sex it is probably because they are not working out. They are not fit so therefore no one wants to have sex with someone who is overweight. And then I heard another one later that said that some men don't want to take off their shirts in the spring because they are fat and have "man boobs" and women have to wear a frumpy t-shirt over their swimsuits at the beach if they are not in shape. I just felt that he had totally alienated the "large and lovely" demographic. I have forwarded the other email to the station's people and we'll see what happens.
Please share about other stations that do such things too.
