First single from We Don't Have to Whisper. Riff wise, it reminds me of some 80s Cure. It's not bad and not too reminiscent of Blink. www.purevolume.com/angelsandairwavesavais where you can hear it.

Not bad. I was REALLY looking forward to this because of all the hype they've been creating for themselves. I'm a bit let down. I was expecting something huge.

oh Im sure I may get some backlash from this but here we go...
I hope this bands crashes and burns bigtime. Tom is too full of himself. the only reason I listened to blink 182 was to hear Mark sing. his voice was PERFECT for the song I Miss You. than Tom came in and just ruined it.
PASS
lets here Plus-44 already!! (Mark and Travis' new band)

I think the only reason I actually like this song is because of myself previously being a huge Blink 182 fan since their beginning 13 years ago. However, Tom has been self-promoting this like it was the best thing you will ever hear over the past 6 months, so I think I was expecting to hear something incredible. So yes, I think the song is good and kind of catchy, and I want to do really well, but I wouldn't say I'm drooling over it like Tom wanted us all to. I am quitely anticipating the rest of the album though very much so to see what they have been experiementing with all this time.

Their purevolume page isn't working.
Anyway, I have low expectations for this album.

I, for one, have taken all of Tom's comments with huge grains of salt and expect his new music to be anywhere from "average" to the low end of "great."

Well, I think this is awesome. I love the moment-of-clarity feeling it has at the beginning of Tom's vocals. And it actually reminds me a little bit of Blink's last album, which is probably due to the apparent Cure influence this has.
For some reason, Sirius has called this "The Legend."

My preliminary thoughts are that it's boring and highly overrated.

This is exactly what I expected it to sound like. Like an epic blink-182 song. Nothing earth-shattering, but certainly not boring. Like I said above, I took all Tom's hype with lots of salt.

Ironically, I expected this to sound less like Blink 182 and more rock-influenced (I don't particularly know why).
That said, this captures the Cure influence and sounds similar to "I Miss You" or "Always", except slower and more dramatic. It also reminds me of a certain Coheed & Cambria song.
I'm a little pissed that Tom DeLonge referred to himself as "Hi, I'm Tom from Angels & Airwaves" last December on my local rock station". I mean, dude, nobody even knows who the band is yet and, like it or not, you will never top the success you had with Blink, but whatever. I can't help but think it's an egotistical move on his part, considering Mark & Travis blame him for the band's breakup, and he hasn't said anything about it, but I digress.

I don't know what I'd do if I left a well known band and started a new one, but perhaps Tom just wants to move on with his new project? I doubt anyone listening didn't know of Tom's former band, and therefore he didn't need to say it.
Then again, do people just say they're from one band when they're doing something just for that band? For example, did Billy Corgan say that he was with Zwan when that was going on, or did he still say that he was also with the Smashing Pumpkins?
Once again, I'd say that Tom's just moving on.

considering Mark & Travis blame him for the band's breakup, and he hasn't said anything about it I think, from all that I've heard from him on the subject, that he doesn't particularly seem to know why he's the cause of the band's breakup. Like he's as aware as we all are that Mark and Travis blame him for something, but he doesn't know what or why. And Mark and Travis haven't been particularly clear on the subject either. I'm not sure. All I know is that in interviews he still seems to think that this is just a temporary thing and that things will all work out. And of course Mark and Travis say "No, It Isn't".

I downloaded the album and it has to be the worst album I've ever heard. for all the talk Tom was doing bout how this is going to change music history, its a let down. than again I dont believe most of what he says anyways. didnt he say the same thing bout the last blink 182 album? anyways the album is a joke. I'll probably get some messages back bout this but I dont really care.

From the few times I've read Tom addressing it, he's said (and I remember) that he was a big Kerry supporter, even before he was the official Democratic nominee in '04, and wanted Mark and Travis' (blink's) support, but they weren't really willing to do that with (or for) him. Not that they may have had differing political views, per se, but maybe weren't as enthusiastic about the political climate as Tom was.

Oh... so this is by a Blink 182 member... I was wondering how it got on the radio and is moving up the charts so quickly. I hear it on XM all the time. It sounds terribly mediocre to me, not the kind of song that would get noticed if it wasn't by a big name.

For some reason the band already shot a video for the song "It Hurts". I guess that will be their second single. You can see it at lkmedia.com/x/

Wow, I wasn't really aware of how much Tom was overhyping this song. All I knew is that while this may not be the most earth-shatteringly awesome song ever, it's still an excellent piece of Cure-esque epic power pop.

If anyone actually bought into Tom's hype, I don't really know what to say.
Every band and their mother always believes that their new album is their best work ever and that it's their heaviest or most emotional or most melodic or whatever simply because they worked on it for a long time, it's fresh in their minds, and damned if they're gonna tell their fans that it's a so-so piece of shit that doesn't hold up to their previous albums. Some bands are more realistic about it than others, but I don't think I've ever seen a band that didn't show pride in their new creation, and that's okay, because that's natural.
I believe Tom's enthusiasm stems from that he's really excited about moving on with a new project, and that he really does feel these are the best songs he's written, and he feels anxious for people to hear what he's been working on. I do think he's going overboard with what he's saying, but I also don't expect people to really believe him and take his words at face value. I mean, the man said this album would be nothing short of life-affirming. I can't imagine that an album from any member of Blink-182 could possibly be that important to the world.
I think The Adventure is a good song. It's a little different from Blink, but it's got enough of a connection to not totally turn off fans. And I think Tom's vocals are far less annoying in this song than in any Blink song he's done. Plus he says "Ay yo" in the song and damnit if he doesn't make it work. Things like that impress me more than anything, that a musician can take a really stupid word, phrase, or saying and use it and make it sound totally natural. That's talent right there. But I digress.

I like it. At first I thought it was a Killers song but then I heard the distinguishable Tom's voice.
