as well as the fact they're second only to U2 in total Top 50 Alternative singles I don't know where you got this figure, and I don't want to sound like I've got all these statistics stuffed up my ass, but for the R&R chart, Pearl Jam is ahead of everyone. They've had 27 different charting songs (counting the two versions of "Elderly Woman..." that charted). Green Day is second with 22, and U2 is well behind with 17. I was referring to Billboard Modern Rock chart statistics. U2 has 33 charting singles in the history of the chart, with Pearl Jam just trailing them with 31. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Well, you said "Top 50" so...
I think I need to pay more attention to the lyrics for this one. It's kicking ass right now, but I haven't really given much the lyrics much thought when I listen to it. Of course, it's not like I'll have a dearth of opportunities to hear it anytime soon, either.

Here's the lyrics.
Obviously there is intense angst here, and this is deeply political, but then again I think we all figured their new album would be full of anti-war and socially-conscious material.
*************************
WORLDWIDE SUICIDE
I felt the earth on Monday. It moved beneath my feet. In the form of a morning paper. Laid out for me to see.
Saw his face in a corner picture. I recognized the name. Could not stop staring at the. Face I'd never see again.
It's a shame to awake in a world of pain What does it mean when a war has taken over
It's the same everyday in a hell manmade What can be saved, and who will be left to hold her?
The whole world...World over. It's a worldwide suicide.
Medals on a wooden mantle. Next to a handsome face. That the president took for granted. Writing checks that others pay.
And in all the madness. Thought becomes numb and naive. So much to talk about. Nothing for to say.
It's the same everyday and the wave won't break Tell you to pray, while the devils on their shoulder
Laying claim to the take that our soldiers save Does not equate, and the truth's already out there
The whole world,... World over. It's a worldwide suicide.
The whole world,... World over. It's a worldwide suicide.
Looking in the eyes of the fallen You got to know there's another, another, another, another Another way
It's a shame to awake in a world of pain What does it mean when a war has taken over
It's the same everyday and the wave won't break Tell you to pray, while the devils on their shoulder
The whole world,... World over. It's a worldwide suicide.
The whole world,... World over. It's a worldwide suicide.

This looks all but certain to go #1 by Sunday's update.
Yesterday, "Worldwide Suicide" was trailing "Every Day Is Exactly The Same" by 62 spins. Today, "Worldwide Suicide" has assumed the top spot by a 13 spin margin.
This will be their first Modern Rock #1 in a decade (they last reached #1 on the Modern Rock chart with "Who You Are" in 1996 from "No Code". Their last Mainstream Rock #1 was "Given To Fly" from "Yield" in 1998)
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Does anyone know why this is on the Itunes Overall Chart, when it's only a 2 sided single?

I don't care for this. The only thing notable about it is that it's Pearl Jam. I thought "I Am Mine" was a lot better than this.
