There's been quite a bit of activity on the dial here in Los Angeles, so here goes...
1)---Steve Harvey is on his way out the door at Urban KKBT (100.3 the Beat). His show hasn't been doing very well in syndication, nor in L A's ultra-competitive morning drive daypart.
His replacement will be ex-Detroit Piston and current co-host of Fox Sports's 'The Best Damned Sports Show Period' John Salley.
2)---'Uncle Joe' Benson has returned to his old home after 'Arrow 93' flipped to the the 'Jack' format on St. Patrick's Day; he's now doing afternoon drive on Classic Rocker 95.5 KLOS.
He will continue to host the nationally syndicated interview program 'Off The Record with Uncle Joe Benson'.
3)---Erich 'Mancow' Muller (host of 'Mancow's Morning Madhouse'), whom has been walloping Howard Stern in numerous markets throughout the Midwest and elsewhere from his perch at Chicago's Alternative WKQX (Q101), gets his shot at Stern here in L A.
He's now heard from 4:30-9:00 AM on Xtra Sports 570, and now has his chance to put a dent in Stern's stratospheric ratings in morning drive here.
4)---Ex-ESPN talk show host Tony Bruno is now doing mornings on L A's Sporting News Radio affiliate, AM 1540--The Ticket.

Whatever happened to former Dodgers broadcaster Ross Porter? I never really cared for him but I have the last game the Dodgers were to play in Olympic Stadium in Montreal on Fox Sports West2 in 2004. I think Charlie Steiner is doing a great job as his replacement.

If I remember the story correctly, Ross Porter's contract was not renewed.
What the hell is Clear Channel doing to XTRA Sports in Los Angeles? It's bad enough they ruined it with the Superstation experiment after moving it out of San Diego, but now they have Phil Hendrie and Mancow?

I have NO idea what Clear Channel is doing with XTRA Sports 570; they switched AM 1150 to Talk because AM 570 (call letters KLAC) has an excellent signal which goes much farther at night, even though the former XTRA Sports 690, with it's transmitter in Mexico, isn't bound by FCC regulations as it relates to signal wattage.
When the late Wolfman Jack was on XROK (AM 800, located across the border from El Paso), he could be heard in over 30 states at night.
I have no idea what they're doing with Phil Hendrie; he was continually in the top 3 in morning drive here in LA, but now he's subject to being pre-empted for baseball far too many times to make this work, if you ask me.
