This is supposed to be the fourth single. If it is, yay! I love this song a lot.
The problem is that I found this data on Wikipedia, so the chances of this being wishful thinking on someone's part are 75%, but I'd like to believe that it's true. I just can't find any articles that confirm this.

This would be great but I'm still hoping for either Sunspots or The Collector.

This is not single material at all, especially during the climax of the song.

This is not single material at all, especially during the climax of the song. Hurt. I have to compare the two, because they run along similar lines. They aren't heavy, they're very dramatic, very beautiful, very memorable songs. And Hurt was a great single and did well. I think that Right Where It Belongs can work in the same way. In fact, I'll even go ahead and say it could conceivably work better. It's catchier, which is always a plus.

"Right Where It Belongs" is my favorite on the album and is With Teeth's "Hurt." If this actually does get officially released as the 4th and final single, it's very likely that it won't chart.
What kind of a bullshit radio climate do we live in when "Hurt" can be a 4th single and be NIN's first number one, whereas, 11 years later, it's very probable that "Right Where It Belongs," following up 3 consecutive #1 singles, may not even chart?

Agreed, but did it hit #1 over on Active Rock? I only have an alt. #5 peak on my records.

I also have a #5 peak for "Hurt", with only 13 weeks! I don't think that's atypical at all for a fourth single back then, nor do I see why a song like "Right Where It Belongs" would struggle at this point, if it is in fact the next release.

I thought "Closer", "Hurt", and "March of the Pigs" were the only singles from The Downward Spiral. ???

I did indeed misremember its peak. "Hurt" predates me actually following the Alternative chart, so the only explanation I can think of is that I must have gotten it confused with my personal chart.
