Nickelback, I gotta tell ya. Don't get me wrong. I like you and all, even when a lot of people don't, even when you repeat the same song at least once on every album, but it's killing me to hold this inside. You just gotta stop releasing singles. I mean, yes, multiplatinum and all, radio takeover and whatnot, but this is too much. What is this, the fifth single from the album? There's been "Photograph", "Animals", "Far Away", and "Savin' Me". This is it. Enough is enough. Please, let this be the last one. And then go back and start work on repeating the process all over again. Don't think of me or radio stations or record labels or the millions of fans or the millions of dollars in your giant bank vault or your next iteration of "How You Remind Me Of Someday Savin' Me", but think of the bands that would love to have their song peak as high as yours do that might never get the chance if you keep releasing singles like this. Please, think of them. The newbies. The children, that's what it really comes down to. The children. Come on, Nickelback, think of the children. No one ever thinks of the children.
August 14th.

Judging by the title this will be in my top10 worst songs of 2006 along with Lips Of An Angel , Bad Day , Far Away , Honkytonk Badonkadonk ,some random rap songs (Eamon ,D4L etc.) and some crappy pop trash (Justin Timberlake , Jessica Simpson). This pretty much sums up what I think about Nigglhagg in general.

Worst possible choice for a single.
It's the least radio-friendly track from the album, and besides that, it sounds too mischievious and silly for Active Rock, a format whose listeners take their music intensely seriously.
What is Nickelback thinking here? They have plenty of aggressive-sounding ammunition to fire here, especially with "Side Of A Bullet" and "Follow You Home". Release something heavy as a complement release to "Far Away" for the mainstream formats.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

This is career suicide imo. Why would they do this!? This is like the worst song on the album. Such a shame. I hope the reconsider fast.

this song is my least favourite nickelback song ever. I can understand releasing one more single since the album hasnt been out for even a year. on their website they have a poll asking fans their favourite song. the top 4 are the singles mentioned above. #5 is none other than Rockstar. sadly my favourite, Someone That You're With is the least popular. Follow You Home or Someone That You're With would have made for a good wrap up single. both are heavy enough to make their hardrock fans happy but catchy enough for the slowrock fans to enjoy too.

They've made all the wrong single choices. Here's how I would've done it:
1) Photograph 2) Far Away for pop, Side of a Bullet for rock 3) Savin' Me 4) Someone That You're With
Rockstar is their equivalent of She Hates Me.

So basically, I guess we can blame their fans for this. That's kind of funny really. A single that only their big fans could love, quite literally.
Only 2% picked Side Of A Bullet? That makes me a sad panda.

It's not that it's a bad song, it's just not a radio song. It's a funny song, but funny doesn't really cut it these days.

LMAO @ penance.
And Side of a Bullet would have been perfect if anything.

Nickelback are just asking for the end to their Active Rock stronghold here if they do choose to push this particular release.
Their fans will find "Photograph" forgivable after giving them "Animals", and "Savin' Me" has been satisfying enough I feel for them. But when you release both the poppiest song AND the silliest song at once from this album, I feel that'll likely feel like the final straw to a considerable number of Active Rock listeners, and they could end up having single runs similar to 3 Doors Down from here on out, something which they could easily avoid.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Scorpio, I think you raise good points, but I think you're also ignoring the fact that their fans more or less "voted" for this.

I'll say what has been basically already been said since I agree with just about everything said thus far. This really is the worst song on the album, and I can't believe the fans would choose this song, which does really sound like a newer Kid Rock song rather than a heavier track like Side Of A Bullet, Next Contestant, or Follow You Home, which I think would have been much better choices.

I am not a huge fan of Nickelback, but I seem to like every single they release. I haven't heard "Rockstar," so I really can't make a judgement on that. (I bought the album the week it came out, and I still haven't listened to it.) I think a band as popular as Nickelback can get away releasing 4 or 5 tracks. On the other hand, I was very surprised when Theory Of A Deadman released a 4th single. I was even more surprised when it made the top 30.

Guilty pleasure. Says someone with Aly & AJ and JoJo in their recently played list? ;) I like this song. Then again, I'm not a die-hard rock only fan. I like all genres except Hip-Hop/Rap.

Well, rock radio is eating this one up at least. Top 10 there and nearing top 10 on Active Rock.
Did someone say career suicide for their Active Rock status? ;)

Actually, I am surprised at the negative reaction it was initially getting from this topic.
I've heard it maybe a total of five times and, while musically it's nothing more than your standard-fare Nickelback, it's lyrically actually quite interesting, and good in a cynical way. It seems like, in the past year, alternative has remained quite open to artists who cross over or experience a lot of pop success, so I'll predict top 30 on alt.

Lyrically it's one of Nickelback's best..it's a sort've neat track. I'd say at least top 30 on alternative.

Well, I think lyrically its one of the worst songs ever - of all time. I still think Nickelback are a decent band and don't understand why everyone hates them.

Well, I think lyrically its one of the worst songs ever - of all time. You do realize the lyrics are coming from a jaded, cynical point of view, right? 'Cause if they were dead serious about the lyrics, I'd agree with you. I don't understand why everyone thinks this is such a poor single choice. It's not a crossover power-ballad; it's not a dumbass "hard rock" song with vile lyrics, either.
