It's confirmed. This is the third single from The Autumn Effect. Any prior reports to the contrary (cough) should be ignored. Honestly, I'm neither surprised nor disappointed. Excellent track.

It's a good track but I don't know if it's a good choice for a single . I really hope this does something at AR.

I haven't heard this song, so I can't really predict how I'd think it would do. However, I hope it at least does better than Through The Iris. I don't know if I've ever seen a band in the past few years like 10 Years have a huge breakout single in Wasteland that lasted so long on the charts, and had a follow-up that did so poorly.

Well, fuck, as of last week, "Wasteland" was still in the Top 20, racking up its 53rd total week on the chart. (Realistically, it'd be their 56th, but there's the 2-week holiday break and the week they were prematurely shipped to recurrent land.) It's not like "Through the Iris" stood much of a chance, with that kind of longevity. I mean, Jesus, it feels like "Wasteland" should have gone recurrent six months ago, but no America still plays it often enough to remain in the Top 20. I sure don't hear it much anymore...

Semisonic and Default are two other bands, but "Deny" didn't do too badly, and, also, those bands are much more pop-friendly than 10 Years. In fact, I don't even know what to call 10 Years...

Well, Semisonic's second single Singing In My Sleep did almost as well as Closing Time from what I can remember, but their third one Secret Smile did absolutely nothing.
Dishwalla though is a great example. Counting Blue Cars was one of the top songs of the 90s, and I don't believe they've done well with any singles since unless they've been on Hot AC or Pop. The only one I can think of at the top of my head is Somewhere In The Middle which came out a few years ago.

Did "Singing..." even hit top 10 or do well enough to warrant incessant Hot AC airplay to this day? I'd imagine "Closing Time" was much bigger on pop as well. Maybe Primitive Radio Gods, although that is an extreme example. That album was also nothing to speak of. Butthole Surfers?

I love this song. It's really meant to crossover, but since they really don't have much crossover success it would be kind of moot.
