I've really come around on "Hole in the Earth" now that I can hear it regularly.
And despite the throwaway title, I think "(Konami code)" is one of the best tracks on the album, never mind the 2 minute running time and no vocal.
And I'm fine with "Pink Cellphone"...until the spoken outro comes in. Seriously: F**k Annie Hardy for ending a Deftones song on a s**t note. And at the same time, they're the ones who left that on the song/record, so it's not like the Deftones are blameless, either. Annie Hardy is from the underground group Giant Drag, whom I've never heard, and wouldn't remember, had they not written the song "You F**k Like My Dad." Yeah, she's one of those people. Granted, I've never heard the song, and it may come off fine, but in this case, it's shock value in a failing attempt to pass as art. I'm sure the edited version of the record just ends that track before she returns. I'd much rather have that, except that I know better and "clean versions," on principle, are unacceptable.
And while it's good, I never really warmed up to their self-titled effort the way I love their other albums; but my initial first impression of this record was more positive. I'm so glad they're back.

I guess I must have the clean version because she doesn't do that on mine. Not that you'd notice in any other case.
Although the version I had prior did have that extra bit so I do know what you're talking about.

Personally I find the Annie Hardy bit on Pink Cellphone hilarious.
I honestly never thought of the hot carl in verb form.
Then again, I think Giant Drag are greatness, so maybe its just me.
Anyway, I vote for Mein or Cherry Waves for next single. Rapture could work if they need a harder single.

No, it should be Xerces or Kimdracula. Something hard and emotional. Plus both of them are catchy as hell. Beware could also work in a pinch.

I still think this is one of the best songs to hit alternative radio this year , but it's chart performance suggests that the Deftones' glory days might be over. And with alt radio's current reluctance to play 2nd singles the album might be done chart-wise. Anyways, I think the Deftones will continue to release (great) albums, with or without radio support.
