I think fans are easily the worst thing about the music industry. It amazes me just how easily a lot of bands get along behind the scenes, and ones that you wouldn't typically expect. At the Buzz Bake Sale alone, Kill Hannah, Buckcherry, 30 Seconds To Mars, Papa Roach, Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance? All friends. There are some bands that ruin the fun for everyone (I'm looking in your directions, Brandon Flowers, Sully Erna, Josey Scott, Noel Gallagher, Austin Winkler), but mostly it seems to me that bands across different genres generally treat each other right. It's a lesson that most fans could stand to learn. There's no reason to treat fans of other groups like absolute shit. Music is music, and we're all listening for the same reason. It's senseless. It's unsurprising the world is in the state it is when people are that narrow about something so trivial.

I don't know if I'd consider fans as being worse than record labels and radio corporations, both of whom represent music but don't give a flying damn about music and are willing to compromise whatever it takes to get their Mercedes paid off. At least the fans have varying extents of passion about the music; a lot of them just have the wrong mindset toward it. But otherwise, I agree completely.

Yeah, I was totally thinking the video for this would be great if it were set on a subway, and whaddya know, they totally delivered (even if that's not what they call it over there).
I was taken aback by this song at first because I was expecting something more uptempo, along the lines of "Banquet." But I think it's awesome now, and it better be the song that gets them over in the States.
Actually, it feels like this is gonna be a year in which we'll be bombarded with British acts regarded as the next big thing, or deserving their big break. There were already a few in '06, but already we have Lily Allen getting a ton of hype (even if it's more for her abrasive personality), and I feel like The Kooks are gonna come down as this year's Arctic Monkeys, in terms of absolutely having to be heard because of their breakout success in Britain. Guess we'll see how it all plays out.

The Kooks had their chance & blew it.
But I'm all for more British acts infiltrating the States.

I personally think "Hunting For Witches" or "Song For Clay (Disappear Here)" could be significant hits here.

Is "I Still Remember" really about two guys liking each other in high school? I read that somwhere, but can't find the lyrics to see for myself.

The video was "unleashed" Monday on MTV2 and MTV2.com. Is "I Still Remember" really about two guys liking each other in high school? I read that somwhere, but can't find the lyrics to see for myself. ISR lyrics

That's not the only song off the new album that is about "boy on boy" action.
But I wonder if he's really gay or not. Why would a straight person write two songs about this subject matter? Others musicians that have written songs like these have been mostly female. Like Tori Amos. "Raspberry Swirl" is a lesbian song, but she's straight.

I love the video. the song is killer and much better than I expected. for me its one of those songs I listen to a lot at first, than get sick of it, than "re-discover" it somewhere down the road.

Basically, this has become a non-mover. I actually wish it would go away, so they can get a catchier single out. Their album needs help, badly.
