I'd had a list for rock news websites, but I lost and forgot all about them. Can I just get a list of some of the sites you guys use? I really only go on FMQB and Blabbermouth.

Some I use are tunelabmusic.com, absolutepunk.net, and theprp.com You ass, you beat me. And two of those you wouldn't have known if it weren't for me. And this is the thanks I get. >:( Anyway, I also check TotalAssault, FMQB, SMNnews (bucket of asshats), melodic.net, HitsDailyDouble, and various label and artist websites. Nick, you go to Tunelab? I've probably argued with you and not even known it. I am the infamous Pen. Although that should be fairly obvious, I think.

I wanted seriously to throw him out of the car today, but that's another story I can tell you later. Let me ask everyone this though since it has to do with what I'm talking about. Does screaming in a song bother you or ruin a great song because of one half second of it? I'm interested to hear your responses...

No, I've never heard of that. Basically everywhere I go for music news and official single/video release status is: R&R only for the "going for adds" now The mediabase pages now for the charts >:( (which is very annoying/inconvenient to keep up) mtv.com/news theprp.com punknews.org (and do my best to ignore/look down on the people who bother commenting on anything I like) altmusictv.com for Subterranean's playlist mtv2.com's Headbanger's Ball page, so I can at least get an estimate of what I miss each week Launch's pages of new videos. And I think that's it.

I'm interested to hear your responses... Yes, screaming is a completely invalid and unacceptable method of showing emotion, and therefore, even a hint of it will completely destroy any song in which it resides. The absolute worst song on the radio right now is "The Kill", but once they eliminate the part where he screams "This is who I really am!!!", and send it to pop (the best format), it will soon become one of the best songs.

Actually, that part does kinda ruin it. I skip over it every time I suppose songs with a climax leading up to screaming aren't so bad, but screaming throughout the whole song is just annoying. That and songs that just randomly start screaming in the middle (Rock and Roll Queen, anyone?)

I forgot to add this one: videostatic.com/Its not exactly rock news, but its still good. In the topic of screaming in songs. It doesn't really bother me anymore. I only dislike it when a song stars with pure screaming and no other instrument in the background. I think The Dillinger Escape Plan has been the only band that is hard for me to tolerate.

You're not Nick, you're Nicholas, silly. Nick is Nick. Oh! Oh! My "bad," then! Newer users refer to me by Nicholas, but users from the old R&R board, such as crash46, friday, Matt4319, halo19, et al. know me as Nick and address me as such. I thought maybe you had picked that up at some point and were saving yourself a few keystrokes. Guess not, huh. I think The Dillinger Escape Plan has been the only band that is hard for me to tolerate. The only one, huh? Hmm...the only one you've come across so far? Do you know which bands to stay away from then? altmusictv.com for Subterranean's playlist and thanks for this website! Word.

I wouldn't just start up a conversation with someone who wasn't there. At least that's what I tell my invisible friend Murray, anyway.

I was actually meaning to post a similar topic like this sooner, asking everyone where they get most of their music news (including those infamous Josey Scott interviews). I primarily view NME, MTV News, Billboard, Rolling Stone, and of course Wikipedia - that's pretty much it. Thanks for the sites!! Sites like AbsolutePunk seem skewed - bands like Yellowcard won't receive great reviews because they aren't "punk" or are viewed as "sell-outs" , and NME is actually a British website, so not all the news I'm getting is fair and balanced, but then again, what mainstream news network is fair and balanced, anyway? I'm looking your way, Sean Hannity.

Yes, thats what I meant. DEP is SO FAR one of the bands with screaming songs that have too much for me to handle as of now.

I'm looking your way, Sean Hannity. Actually, I believe Yellowcard was originally one of the favorite bands of site founder Jason Tate, but since they kicked out Ben and started being in it "for the money" rather than for fun and love, they've been pretty much disowned by the entire AP community. Can't say I particularly blame them. I think Lights And Sounds got a fair review though. You'd be surprised how many popular punk bands get a lot of love at AP. Sum 41 and Blink 182 especially. Indeed, there are surprisingly even quite a few Good Charlotte fans there. And AP does post news outside of the punk zone sometimes and most of it is fairly well recieved. Maybe you oughtta explore a little more thoroughly before you start throwing around criticisms, Mr. Fair-And-Balanced.
