Hey, here's a hint. Four of them are in this band. Bam!
Goes for adds October 2nd. I have a feeling this is gonna tank fast and hard despite whatever popularity the show has.

Their name was Supernova, so they just put the "Rockstar" in front of it, as far as I know. Anyway, as a fan of the show, I hate the singer they picked. I really don't think he has much vocal talent at all. That said, they have a song called "It's All Love", which isn't half-bad. Why they don't release that instead of this one baffles me.

Does anyone remember that reality show on Vh1 that searched for the next big band? Whatever their name was, they were a bomb. I don't watch this show, but is it similar to what Vh1 did?

I don't think so (but I don't really remember that show you're talking about either ). This was basically a rock version of American Idol.

The show basically takes a band without a lead singer and helps them find one. INXS was the first. A lot of people thought Fuel was going to be the second, but the second ended up being a new supergroup featuring Jason Newsted, Tommy Lee, and Gilby Clarke. You may know them from Metallica/Voivod, Motley Crue, and Guns 'N' Roses respectively.
The winner of the second show was Lukas Rossi. I didn't recognize who he was at first, but now that I've read a bit about him, I'm rather surprised (and unsurprised) he won over other people. Before this, he was the lead singer of the band Rise Electric. That name might not ring a bell, but Rise Electric started out as formed by ex-members of the group Pulse Ultra, which was a pretty good band. Unfortunately, Rise Electric is kind of on hiatus now since the guitarist, Dominic, left to start his own solo project.
I kind of wish that guy from Stage had won.

I think there were four bands on the show that were already formed and the winners received a record deal. If I remember correctly, it was more like The Amazing Race than American Idol, since I don't think there was any big performances or anything in front of judges. Anyway, the band that won was Flickerstick, and they actually had a minor alt hit in 2001 with "Beautiful" that was actually pretty good. I also remember VH1 playing a video for "Coke" for a little while after the show aired.

Flickerstick is a good band that deserves more respect than they get.

Speaking of Flickerstick, I never understood why "Smile" never got the radio adds. It was a million times better than "Beautiful", and if I'm not mistaken, didn't the latter never even have a video?
I'll admit I haven't watched this show one time, so maybe I'm not the "Mr. Fair and Balanced" penance oh-so-courteously labeled me in another thread, but I'm beginning to think choosing unknown singers really hurts supergroups in attempted comebacks. I mean, look at the Panic Channel. That album didn't bomb because it received poor reviews. I'd rather see Tommy Lee do the drums and vocals - and he's not particularly vocally talented.

No, I think it did. I seem to remember seeing it one night on MTV2. But the fact that it was like 11 or 12:30 at night when I saw it kinda speaks about how well that single was pushed. It's probably lurking somewhere within the depths of Yahoo! Launch.

The guy from Stage was Ryan Star, and trust me, he deserved to win more than Lukas The Stupid Bastard.
I would've preferred Patrice, Jill, Storm, or Dilana to win though. They were awesome (especially Patrice)!

Storm was the best performer on the show. So I'm glad she didn't win. Getting stuck with these guys isn't exactly a huge plus.

In the beginning, Lukas was the 2nd best (next to Dilana), by the end he was the weakest of the final 6, but how they did in the end didn't matter, the band had already pretty much made up their mind on Lukas.
This song is so-so. I don't expect it to last long.

Well, Supernova's first album just dropped. Haven't heard it yet, but I did see them perform on one of the TV shows recently (forgot which one), and I was surprised how good Lucas is! Can't remember the name of the song but I really liked it. DK if it's getting much air play yet.

It's not great, but it's better than I expected it to be considering, I didn't even think Lukas was worthy of top 3.

I have not heard this song and I was confused about this topic title until just the other day, when I noticed elsewhere that that was the name of the song: "Be Yourself & Five Other Cliches."
Rather, I had thought since penance made a crack about the band in the introductory post, that the title was instead describing the first single as sounding like Audioslave's song "Be Yourself," and 5 other cliches, and not its actual title.

I wasn't a huge fan of the show, but I did catch every once in a while. I hate the Lukas guy that won. I think he tries waaaaaaaaay to hard to be "rock & roll." I would gone with just about anybody over him, even ZAYRA. LOL!
I wonder if this "supergroup" will have similar success to VELVET REVOLVER?

They were the #1 Heatseeker this past week. That's good for an up and coming band...but not when you have Tommy Lee and Jason Newsted in your group. Also, it's pretty bad considering how many people watched the show weekly.
