This is the first single from Chris Daughtry, the rocker from last season's American Idol. Before any of you write this off, I suggest you listen to this because it is pretty good and actually has some edge. I don't if or when this is going for rock adds but this could be successful at both rock and pop formats. Great song and even even better surprise because this is the only contestant I've ever rooted for on the show. Download the radio rip here: www.savefile.com/files/194686

I don't think Alternative will play this but Clive Davis will get this on Rock and Active Rock. The new Scott Stapp (with a better voice) is here folks.

Horrid! I can't believe there are some s**t stations out there which actually play this. If rock radio can play Daughtry there's no reason why they shouldn't play Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan , not that I want to hear either of them on rock radio but this is the same kind of bland AdultContemporary music with some guitars mixed in. Maybe I'm being a little too idealistic on this but I still think rock radio should at least retain SOME kind of anti-commercial stance. This sounds calculated from note to note , tailor-made for CHR and MTV . I don't claim that rock radio hasn't played any bad music before , but this is clearly the most shamelessly commercial song that has ever been sent to rock radio.

Actually I changed my mind about this song...after just 3 listens it I was already tired of it. Then I listened to clips from the album and OUCH, absolute trash! I really wanted something good to come out of American Idol but I guess the nature of the show means that it will never happen...

rock radio taking an anti commercial stance? than that wouldnt be a radio station. radio IS commercial. if you want anti commercial, than by an Ipod or burn a CD with the music you think its anti commercial. to say a radio station shouldnt be commercial is like saying a government shouldnt govern. theres a simple solution to this. turn off the radio and crank up your CD player.

Good choice on the title. It's not as obvious as "My 15 Minutes Ain't Up Just Yet".

I don't know, I like the album. But then I like Nickelback and it sounds a lot like Nickelback, so whatever. And I like the artists that contributed to it.

I believe that this song belongs solely on Pop and Hot AC radio. Rock shouldn't really be touching this, which is sad because I, too, believed that the day would come that an American Idol could perhaps receive moderate airplay on the Rock charts, but I always thought the only way that could happen is if a failed member, who perhaps didn't make it past the first few rounds in Hollywood, returned to his band and wrote genuine rock music without any distinct corporate influence. It can happen, believe me.
I listened to a clip of this on a promo to some television show (I can't remember the show or the channel). This song will likely receive warm reception on pop, and hopefully that won't bleed over onto rock (a la Hinder).

I don't know, I like the album. But then I like Nickelback and it sounds a lot like Nickelback, so whatever. And I like the artists that contributed to it. I was of the understanding that he was collaborating with the likes of Fuel, All-American Rejects, SR-71, etc. But I've read a few places (all-music guide, for one) that almost all of the work has solo writing credits on it, suggesting that he didn't actually collaborate with all of the big names that were rumored around them. What it does seem more likely is that the American Idol pop machine was at work behind this one, and it shows. After listening to this, I'm glad he didn't get anywhere near Fuel. His lyrics are strong, but the music is really, really bland and generic and the two really don't match up well together. You ever listen to a rock song, and you know exactly what's coming up as far as instrumentation and beat progression goes? That's this album. Scott Stapp has The Tea Party, one of the best Canadian bands ever, backing him up, who utterly destroy any talent that exists within this outfit. In fairness though, the Daughtry song "Used To" is far, far better.

In fact, all of the best songs on this album are the pop-oriented tracks.

I haven't heard any Chris Daughtry whatsoever, so I have no opinion on him, but don't look now, kiddos, "It's Not Over" goes from 82-60 on this week's Alternative chart, with a +68 bullet. Now, that could taper off sharply before he gets to the Top 50, but I'd brace yourselves.

I don't see what's so wrong with this song or the album. It's not any better or worse than a lot of the other mainstream rock around lately. It's a lot better than Hinder. I know that's not much of a praise, but I'm just surprised that it's being so poorly received on here. Although admittedly I was expecting something more like Fuel myself, I knew from the contributors to the album what the final result might be like. And I don't know how many people realize this, but a few of these songs are actually from Daughtry's pre-Idol days, so it's not totally a corporate machine effort here.

Honestly, I don't think there's much 'wrong' with the album. I think it's picking up a lot of criticism though because this thing was VERY heavily hyped through the media as being a hard rock album which would breakthrough to the mainstream. In that regards, it has failed; the end result ended up far more pop than most had anticipated. It's not a bad thing, but it was a large letdown to those rooting for an 'anti-American idol' album to see what amounted to a generic American rock album. Further, I think it's been hurt by the fact that if he collaborated with any of the people he was supposed to, it's really been masked on this album.

I'm a rocker and I like this album. It's Not Over is fun and catchy. But my taste runs more toward Crashed, There and Back Again and What I Want with Slash.

I have only heard the single, so I am reserving judgement on the album, as a whole.
However, the simplistic, popish lyrics on the lead single don't do a thing for me.
I am a Chris Cornell fan, so I love the unexpected turn of phrase, the imagery, and tangent metaphors. "It's not over" on repeat just doesn't cut it for me. "Coldness burns through my veins" will get my attention.
But, I am waiting to hear the rest.

This whole American-Idol-crossing-to-rock thing reminds me of Hedley last year. I still can't believe that "Villain" became a decent-sized rock hit up here.
At least this doesn't consist of someone moaning off-key for 3 minutes. That song is so painful.

Such a travesty.
