I am so excited for this album you have no idea. Strata is one of my favorite Wind-Up bands and it's good that Wind-Up is finally letting them release a new album. Surprised that the first single is going to be called Cocaine, but then after Lithium, I guess Wind-Up is on a drug kick. Such an underrated group.

And I don't know why but the song isn't playing for me. Is anyone else having that problem?

The song has been pulled from their myspace website, for "reasons beyond our control" I was looking forward to it, too.

sounds like they're following the same formula all bands are these days. crap, pass I don't think it's crap, but that's aside from the point I want to make here. I think it is and isn't their fault that this song sounds like an attempt to fuse dance-rock with their specific sound from the last album. It isn't their fault because Wind-Up is obviously on a kick to try to create the next big indie breakthrough. The Exit, People In Planes, Stefy, and Stars Of Track And Field all have different sounds, but they all seem to fall under the umbrella of indie rock. Even Pilot Speed is a fairly low-key group. Therefore, it is unsurprising that the label is trying to get their current staple of bands to do the same, with the exceptions of Evanescence and Seether because they are already popular and there's no need to mess with a formula that works. But meanwhile, they've had Finger Eleven do "Paralyzer", Strata do "Cocaine", and I shudder to think what part of his soul Joey Culver gave for his new project, whatever it turns out to be. It is their fault because they're better than this. Strata's album was horribly underrated in my opinion, and it deserved to do better than it did. It's great that they have another chance at success, and I'm sure they jumped through Wind-Up's hoops because they desperately wanted to hold onto that opportunity. I can't blame them, because once you're dropped from a label, it is pretty hard to get back on your feet, although more bands have been doing it of late than say, five years ago. I think they deserve to have that shot on their own terms. Unfortunately, Wind-Up believes that in order for the bands to have a chance, they must try to adapt with "what's hot" in the mainstream, and right now bands like The Killers are still hot. Therefore, Wind-Up is trying to get away from their rock roster and try to develop something a little more profitable, because that's exactly what Wind-Up has always been about ever since they bought Grass Records and signed Creed: profit.

www.purevolume.com/videos/strata/cocaineVideo. Very interesting, very cool, although they reuse that image of Eric with his mouth open way too much. I like how it tells a little story though between the song and the imagery. Album, Strata Presents The End Of The World, comes out May 15th.

I am psyched about this one: the band promised on their message board that metalheads will freak out when they hear the new Strata material.
The new song is tight: it's familiar, but there's just something odd that makes it stick, perhaps the timing it's recorded in, that makes it seem faster than it should be, especially during the chorus.
