www.radioandrecords.com/Newsroom/2005_09_22/christmasat.aspThursday, Sept. 22, 2005 Christmas At KEFM/Omaha Clear Channel AC KEFM/Omaha gets a jump-start on Christmas. They implemented their all-Christmas music format today at 5am, launching with Michael Buble's "I'll Be Home for Christmas." "Our listeners told us they loved the KEFM holiday music last year and wanted even more of it, so we're giving them what they want," says OM Mitch Baker. "Lots of people will ask the question, 'Why now? It's September 22nd!' My response would be, 'Why not?' With all that's happening in the world these days, who couldn't use a little Christmas?"

What. The. Hell!
At the going rate, there'll soon be stations who go all-Christmas and stay that way permanently.[/font]

Key words being "a little"... not three-and-a-half freaking months of it.

Their website features quotes from listeners who were overjoyed to hear all Christmas music on the radio this morning. There are about 6 quotes total. I wonder how long it took to sift through 2,000 callers screaming "Are you NUTS?" before they found 6 they could use...

Well, if stores are putting out Christmas trees and decorations already, I guess radio stations can start playing Christmas music. Does the station stream online? EDIT: I found the online stream, and they are not 24/7 Christmas music. Right now, Jack & Diane is playing. In fact, the station's playlist and core artists looks more like a classic rock station than an AC station. Are we sure this is the same KEFM-FM?

Radio and Records thought it was a format change, but 100000watts speculated that it is a stunt. Based on JCMF3's post, maybe all-Christmas was a stunt and the station changed to Classic Rock. "The Brew" that KEFM is calling themselves is the same nickname Clear Channel is using on WQBW Milwaukee-Racine which changed from AC to Classic Rock on September 20, 2004. All Access Net News reports that KEFM changed to Classic Rock and is playing 5,000 songs in a row without commercials. I'll change the topic title.
