I always meant to ask this question following Hurricane Katrina. With New Orleans being devastated the way it was, and virtually all the population displaced in other areas outside New Orleans, I'm guessing none of the radio stations in the city are functioning or on the air, right? I assume even the radio stations themselves are damaged from the flooding.
I know it may seem like a dumb question but I was just curious.

Radio stations monitored by R&R/Mediabase in New Orleans have been removed from the panel for the time being. Only KNOU is a reporter now.

Arbitron will suspend services for New Orleans for the rest of the summer and fall ratings period, as well as the fall book for Gulfport-Biloxi-Pascagoula.

So I guess there is no radio for the most part there now, because there's no one there to listen to the radio much I'm here now Most of the New Orleans stations are back on, although they are almost all airing "United Radio" 24/7 coverage (although the Entercom stations broke away for the Saints game today....what a performance....lol). Stations that I can pick up clear over air from Slidell currently 92.3 - airing dual channel with Diva 103.3 out of Baton Rouge 93.7 - Magic from Biloxi/Gulfport - combo of AC music and news 94.7 - Was Praise/Gospel before but now airing a feed of Oldies with some Slidell updates 95.3 - Z from Biloxi/Gulfport - airing all music from what I've heard 97.9 - CPR from Biloxi/Gulfport - Mixture of Rock and news 99.1 - K99 from Biloxi/Gulfport - heard regular Country programming on it 102.3 - Oldies from Biloxi/Gulfport - mix of music and news 103.7 - LP station in Slidell - mostly religious with St Tammany Parish updates 106.1 - simulcasting Kajin 107 from Hammond (Country music) 107.9 - Kicker from Biloxi/Gulfport - mix of Country music and news 93.3, 95.7, 97.1, 98.5, 99.5, 101.1, 101.9, 104.1, 105.3 - URBNO

Thursday October 6, 2005 New Orleans FMs return to regular programming
Entercom's CHR-Pop WEZB, Rock WKBU and AC WLMG yesterday returned advertising to its airwaves, one week after each of the three stations broke from its nearly month-long simulcast of News/Talk clustermate WWL. In a memo sent to clients, Entercom/New Orleans said, "While we recognized the need to deliver non-stop, vital news and information to the communties of New Orleans, we believe that now is the right time to reconnect New Orleanians with their favorite programming. Katrina has made it extremely difficult for businesses to reach their current and potential customers. We're committed to helping you rebuild your businesses, as we continue to rally in helping to rebuild our beloved city."
The cluster's sales team has developed special plans to reestablish brands with potential consumers and rebuilding customer bases and is asking interest parties to contact them via each station's website. WEZB OM/PD Mike Kaplan tells R&R that Clear Channel's FMs were mostly back to music programming as well as of Sept. 28.
