I'll edit this later.
Subterranean is on now & Robert Smith is the guest of honor.
He pickked all the videos tonight...a lot of Cure will be played!
Make sure to tune in now...
From now on, I will use this thread to post what videos were played each episode for the convenience of others. (And to alert what will be coming up next week).

Great idea. I made a topic like this on the indie forum but no one replied everytime I updated.

hahaha well in the spirit of 120 Minutes, this belongs in the Alternative forum, I think. ;) Anyway, tonight's list: The Cure - Mint Car Secret Machines - Lightning Blue Eyes Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Gold Lion The Cure - In Between Days Sigur Rós - Hoppipolla Wolfmother - Dimension The Cure - Never Enough (from the new DVD) Mogwai - Friend Of The Night The Cure - Hot, Hot, Hot Pretty good episode. Smith mentioned a new Cure album should be out by mid '07. I might have missed one. Tomorrow, the official list will be posted here, so I'll revise as necessary. Next week, their "Best of 2006" countdown will be on, so it should be a worthwhile episode. I hope it's a two-hour special, but with MTV2's attitude these days, don't count on it.

That VJ sucks. There's always an uncomfortable silence everytime he interviews a band and with a legend like Robert Smith, it was even more umcomfortable!

The best one in recent memory was the Peter Murphy<3 & Gerard Way ("goth") episode. Talk about awkward! Peter took the piss out of Gerard the whole time. I almost felt bad for the boy (but not really).

I almost felt bad for the boy (but not really). I didn't get that impression at all. Peter seemed kind of stony and anti-social in general. To me, Gerard held his own just fine.

Peter Murphy pretty much tends to have that attitude on interviews. I remember him only once being more open and talkative in an interview.

If you understood Peter's mind the way I do, you'd see what he was doing. He totally was using the Socratic method to undermine Gerard. And it worked. He has no f**king idea what he's talking about. Everyone I talked to who saw the episode couldn't help but agree. If you've been exposed to enough of Peter's antics, you realize there's a lot going on behind his "stony" demeanor - usually he's fucking with you, in that very discreet British way. All of Bauhaus' members are notorious amongst their fans for their wry humor - usually at the expense of whoever is in their company. Peter's attempts at disguising his stutter are adorable, I might add.

I hate to butt my head in on something that I really don't have a clue about, but I just thought this was a pretty funny couple of sentences. I think mostly because it implies you know the guy on a personal level, i.e. "You don't know him the way I do". Also it makes the guy sound like some kind of Sherlock Holmesesque kind of character: on the surface to the untrained eye it looks like nothing, but in reality, underneath it all, this was his true intention! It just calls to mind fanboys who nitpick the philosophies behind television shows and movies. This is what he was really doing! Oh, that devious mind.

I watched this up until #6 last night, but then I had to pretend to study.

This could be a virtually flawless playlist. All you had to do was get rid of that jack-of-all-trades snoozer called K-os!

Are you kidding? It's not everyday MTV2 adopts a Trinidadian. He will meet his quota each week until he pays for himself. (Like Conan & the whale costume).

He could come from La La Land or the Banana Republic, for all I care. I reckon his brand of hippie-hop (did I just make up a new subgenre? ) is bland as chips. And don't remind me of the extreme boredom I was made to endure - I was reviewing it - during a concert I attended from him almost two years ago, in one of the worst venues for concert-viewing ever made in the History of Mankind!

I'm not disagreeing, I'm just saying MTV2 will see that he pays for himself.

Yeah, but your red herring doesn't change the fact that your original argument is fallacious. And your secondary one is questionable, at best (it is largely regarded as one of their best b-sides & let's not forget this is a band with some very notable b-sides). PWNED. By a skinny, white American b***h.

It may be regarded by many. Not by me. OK, I'll concede my defeat to a skinny, white American bitch from Jon Bon Jovi's home state!

I don't care if this is off topic!. This Stylus feature on the YouTube/ITube/WeTube column about Amp is soooooo in the spirit of Subterranean that I just can't let it pass! And damn it if some of the music (and videos) that shaped the very heart of my teens and made my current music fan/hack/obsessive being of today isn't represented here! :)
