I hope you guys will like them...they are about to make their stateside debut. They originally released a rougher version of this single in early 2006, but the album version is a bit different & they've just remixed it for the video & re-release (3rd single) in the UK. It is their debut single for the USA. I think it's a good choice for a US single & the latest version is a compromise between the two previous ones. This final version is a bit more...immediate. I hope these ladies can bring some excitement to our charts. I REALLY want them to do well, as I became friends with the band last summer. They are such nice people. :) They don't sound like anyone else right now...enjoy. youtube.com/watch?v=UBDwzqLcGbEThis is the way I described the band's music (their album was #5 on my Top 60 of 2006): 5. The Long Blondes - Someone To Drive You Home Guessed by banet2001! Hint(s): - Songs are best described as girl group melodies set to sharp-riffed, Siouxsie-tinged punk. I call it pretty punk; others call it glam punk, not so much because the band is glam rock influenced, but because the band is largely image-based, and the lead singer is a fucking hot fox.

"Someone to Drive You Home" is a very good album. After aonly a few listens, it made it onto my top thirty albums of the year, which is not easy to do after only two or three listens. Vocally, Kate Jackson reminds me a lot of Siouxsie Sioux, which is definitely a good thing.
Hopefully Giddy Stratospheres will begin to get some airplay in the US.

I agree - very Siouxsie. A litle bit of Ari Up in the vocals too, I'd say. Anyway, the Blondes are breath of fresh air. STAY BLONDE!

Not so keen on first listen, but heard it a few more times and it is growing on me.

Long Blondes Release Single, TourToday, February 5, in the UK, the Long Blondes release their latest single from last year's Someone to Drive You Home LP, "Giddy Stratospheres", on CD, two different 7"s, and as an iTunes-only download. Each version includes a exclusive B-sides produced by Erol Alkan. The band will not go ahead with their in-store performances at Manchester's Virgin Megastore tonight and Leeds' Jumbo Records on Wednesday as intended, because frontwoman Kate Jackson has tonsillitis. We wish her a speedy recovery. If all goes according to plan, the Long Blondes will launch a UK/Euro club tour on February 9. As previously reported, they'll spend several nights opening for the Kaiser Chiefs. Alas, there is still no word on an American release for the Long Blondes album. (Come on, people!) But you can get a few Long Blondes tracks on the new What's Your Rupture? compilation Imagine the Shapes. CD tracklist: 01 Giddy Stratospheres 02 Giddy Stratospheres (radio edit) 03 All Bar One Girls 04 Giddy Stratospheres (video) 7" one: A: Giddy Stratospheres B: Never to Be Repeated 7" two: A: Giddy Stratospheres (radio edit) B: I'm Coping... Download: 01 Giddy Stratospheres 02 Never to Be Repeated 03 Giddy Stratospheres (Caveman remix) www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/40959/Long_Blondes_Release_Single_Tour

The b-sides are glorious. They will promote this heavily in April when the album should finally be released.

Good news - album is out June 5th here; this will go for "submodern" adds within the month, meaning Alternative panel & college stations that orient towards leftfield & indie rock.
