I originally heard them last spring on my station's underground program & I thought they were decent. This is the first song I've heard from them that really stands out. The Colour - Black SummerA little background info: The band formed in 2002 in Orange County, CA & originally boasted a sound that was very much in the company of the first wave British post-punk revivalists (British Sea Power, Interpol, Dogs Die In Hot Cars). HOWEVER, they have since changed the formula to incorporate more 70's hard rock influences. In fact, they are now garnering more comparisons to Wolfmother and the Raconteurs than any 80's revivalists. Not to say they've complete lost touch with that decade - I can definitely hear hints of the Cure in their music. See what you think. It's moody and powerful but pretty damn accessible, if I do say so. They have 2 EPs to their credit already, & their debut album comes out this year. 1/16/07 EDIT: I'll leave the link to Black Summer, but Save Yourself is the first single they are servicing to radio apparently.
