Low-rated CHR-Pop station WQZQ Nashville changed to Hot AC according to 100000watts. Plans to change formats this Monday (10/3) were announced last week.

They're still calling themselves "The Party" as of right now (9:30 pm CDT Mon 10-3). I wonder if Q-108 (WCVQ 107.9) will change because both stations are in the Clarksville market and Q-108 is Hot AC. They're playing "Here Without You" by TDD - before that, they played some non-rap pop song (don't know what it was...)

At 6 a.m. this morning, the top of the hour ID said "WVNS Venus", but then Lulu was still saying "102-5 The Party". Then they played a couple more "hot AC" songs (You Get What You Give by New Radicals and "Crazy" by Seal). Later, they mentioned that they were going to be making some changes and that syndicated Bob and Sherri (sp) are going to be the new morning show (yuck!) while "The Morning Party" (Lulu and Brad About You) will take over the 3pm-7pm shift--all happening later this week. I haven't heard any "hard" rap songs, but they're still playing mainsteam chr/pop-urban AC songs.

The fact that the Party was able to last this long was a miracle. Going hot AC will fill a void left with WRQQ changing to oldies, but will it make them more competitive with the River, Mix 92-9 or even Jack FM? We'll see.
