Acclaimed filmmaker Gus Van Sant — whose credits include My Own Private Idaho, Drugstore Cowboy, Elephant, To Die For and Good Will Hunting — will be directing a video for the Red Hot Chili Peppers track "Desecration Smile." Van Sant previously directed a video for the band's hit "Under The Bridge," in addition to, weirdly enough, a video for Hanson's "Weird." (US single in late spring, going international first while Hump De Bump is the next US single)

I guess they'll hit seven singles after all. Five so far!

Easily my favorite of the singles so far. Possibly even my favorite on Stadium Arcadium.

Who wants to take bets on the last two singles? One will probably definitely be Stadium Arcadium.

If or when this ends up being a single, I would expect it to hit #13 and spend 9 weeks in the top 20 just like "Dosed" off By The Way did since these are both essentially the same song. If you haven't heard "Dosed," listen to it and you'll see what I mean. I just bought Stadium Arcadium on Tuesday and when the second disc came on and this song opened it, I immediately noticed the exact sameness to the melody of "Dosed." It's ridiculous and really has me fuming! To be honest, with the exceptions of the first 3 singles and "Hump De Bump," this album is just bad. Maybe it will grow on me but it seems like recycled melodies and rehashed riffs. Even the 4 songs I like so far sound familiar and unoriginal which is really sad. Californication is one of my all-time favorites and By The Way was good too but this album has been majorly diappointing. I have no idea why it's gotten so much praise. Anyway, if "Desecration Smile" breaks out, I'm sure as hell going to change the station every time it comes on.
By the way, that "much-hyped" and "highly-anticipated" Grammy performance wasn't anything special either.

Aww, "Dosed" is one of my least favourite RCHP singles. I'll wait to listen to this.

By the way, that "much-hyped" and "highly-anticipated" Grammy performance wasn't anything special either. Desecration Smile will NOT released in USA but in the rest of the world. in USA they release (i think before march) Hump De Bump with a video directed by Chris Rock in urban-ironic style i think that HDB will reach top 10 but for sure will not the 12° number 1 for peppers in modern rock...in not a commercial and radiofriendly songs..funky and experimental. about Stadium Arcadium for me is a honest album, better than their worst one : By the way. it have 2-3 reallly good songs (Wet Sand and Storm in Teacup) 15 nice song and 10 bad songs (snow,we believe, make you fell better, she looks to me....). if they released a single disc with the better 15 songs would be a pretty good album.. my vote: Blood Sugar Sex Magik 9/10 The Uplift Mofo Party Plan 9/10 Californication 9/10 One Hot Minute 8/10 Mother's Milk 8/10 Freaky Styley 7/10 The RHCP 6,5/10 Stadium Arcadium 6,5/10 By The Way 6/10

Who wants to take bets on the last two singles? One will probably definitely be Stadium Arcadium. It would be most wise for them to release "Storm In A Teacup" as one, to show they're not evolving too soft to some of their more traditioanl fans. As for the other, "Stadium Arcadium" is probably the track most likely to be released, but there also seems to be a lot of fan popularity behind "Slow Cheetah" and "Especially In Michigan" as well. I think it'll be "Stadium Arcadium", but we may be surprised. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I immediately noticed the exact sameness to the melody of "Dosed." It's ridiculous and really has me fuming! I've never noticed similarities to "Dosed." I shall have to listen again. Stadium Arcadium for me is a honest album, better than their worst one : By the way. By the Way is handily my favorite of theirs and my #16 of all-time. (The whole 100 is in the Personal Chart forum, by the way. Pun unintended, but I'm leaving it anyway. There's too much apologizing for puns.) It's also the favorite of my brother and a good friend of mine. And none of us are Chili Pepper newbies, either. It would be most wise for them to release "Storm In A Teacup" as one, to show they're not evolving too soft to some of their more traditioanl fans. There also seems to be a lot of fan popularity behind "Slow Cheetah" and "Especially In Michigan" as well. I think it'll be "Stadium Arcadium", but we may be surprised. "Storm in a Teacup" isn't really a good song, though, in my opinion, Descendents shout-out aside. I'm a big fan of "Stadium Arcadium," "Hard to Concentrate," and "Especially in Michigan." None of which they played in concert. Grr.

I like "By the Way" more than "Stadium Arcadium" and "One Hot Minute", but I'd probably rate it lower than their other albums (excluding their s/t, which I never got). there are a lot of news that say that the couple DS/HDB will be the last singles from Stadium Arcadium.. Too bad if that turns out to be the case. There are a few songs I'd like to see get a chance over here as singles, especially over "Hump De Bump".

I actually like By the Way the most too, and like it considerably more than the current Stadium Arcadium. I haven't heard the pre-BSSM albums, so I wouldn't know about those (but one day I will get around to Mother's Milk and perhaps The Uplift Mofo Party Plan).
They're all quality releases, even if they're not perfect. Blood is my second favorite. One Hot Minute is good, but also somewhat flawed. Californication's production gave it kind of a same-y vibe, and that's disappointing for Rick Rubin. Stadium is pretty good, even though too long for me, heh. There are quite a bit of killer songs on there, and without some of the average stuff, it would be amazing.
