The band has commented on the single release, saying "Another exciting thing that is on the horizon for us is that we are going to make a video for the song Hump De Bump, and it is going to be directed by someone we truly admire and respect: the comic genius Chris Rock."
The song is going to be the fourth of seven songs released as a single from Stadium Arcadium in America, yet internationally Desecration Smile will be the next single.

I think seven singles will happen. Most CDs have 3-4 and this is two cds so, 6-8 should come from the albums.
This will be the fourth and the fifth is coming this summer.

Billboard review:
Hump De Bump RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS Producer(s): Rick Rubin Genre: ROCK Label: Warner Bros.
Reminiscent of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' earlier sound, "Hump De Bump" is a funky jam with retro flavor that should delight devotees and usher in new fans. This fourth U.S. single off the band's Grammy Award-lauded "Stadium Arcadium" blends humor and established genius, featuring percolating bass and an unexpected trumpet solo by Flea for added flair. Paired with a campy music video set at a block party in Brooklyn, N.Y., directed by Chris Rock, another RHCP classic is hatched. With modern rock at the helm, "Hump De Bump" will breathe new life into the Rick Rubin-produced album. βKerri Mason
I am really loving this one! The last several times I have gone to Express Design Studio, this has been on the in-store playlist.

I think it's great that they released a throwback to their earlier sound. This may not be another #1 smash for them, but at this point they're enough of a staple that they can afford to take a risk like this, especially for a fourth single.

is a try to emulate their early sound...but they couldn't emulate their early sound now..now they are too melodic, too soft, less aggressive and crazy.. Hump De Bump is nice and funky but you listen immediatley that it from 2006 and not 1984..
will be not n.1, maybe could enter in top 5-10..for now is around 20-30 position.

^^ Yeah, even if they really try they won't even come close to their earlier awesomeness anymore. Not that their new stuff was bad , it's just not as good as their 80s work.
Right now this seems to be struggling at radio , any word on a new single or if there will even be 3 more singles?

If you can call #9 on Alternative with a bullet struggling. It's doing meh on Active but that's to be expected.

Doing better than "Dosed", their previous 4th single. But leveling off similarly, and probably won't last long enough to become any more memorable a year from now in terms of airplay.
Anymore than one more single after this would really feel redundant to me, although the album is still at #115 on the albums chart this week, so people are still buying it. Might as well keep throwing them out there and let radio's fixation on veteran artists play its role, because it isn't so often that hit singles can be created out of so little payola.

If you can call #9 on Alternative with a bullet struggling. It's doing meh on Active but that's to be expected. peaked at #8 in general S.A. had more success than BTW.. and more had sold more than the previous album (BTW)..a rare thing in 2006 (fall of sales, illegal download etc..) respect 2002. chili hystory is different from any other bands.. They start from nothing (but with an innovative sound) ,they wait a lot of years, death and problems before reach the success. their success continue to increase, yes i know it peaked on BSSM and Cali era but the knowledge of "red hot chili peppers" brand wasn't so huge internationally as now..S.A. reached n.1 in over 25 countries..almost all countries, is impressive, overall for a 25years old band with 45years old members. i think no one in hystory do that..yes is happened also because they convert their funkrappunkrock aggressive sound in a more melodic and accessible rock sound..but is impressive the same.
