It'll be funny to see Lamb Of God fans beat up Aiden fans. But seriously, the placement of those two on this tour throws it firmly into the weird category. Who's next for the tour, the Mars Volta?

LOL, and Dir en Grey seemed pretty WTF last year. Now this time around, LoG. I'm shocked that they're on the bill. However, if they did this move to rid their metal elitist fans, I kind of respect them more.
But Aiden aren't really big, and may never be, so it's not as much a credibility threat for the guys to be together on that point. Even though they have little in common musically.
I don't get using this as a way to get more mainstream acceptance. In '03, there would've unfortunately been more people there to see Evanescence than Korn. No offense, but I thought this Family Values tour thing kinda died when nu-metal started dying down.

Are you complaining?
And Dir En Grey is a good band.

Nope, I'm not. I didn't realize it came off like I was doing so. They just don't remind me of a group who'd tour with those groups, and I don't have anything against those, either.

It'll be funny to see Lamb Of God fans beat up Aiden fans. Mentally, yes. In reality, no. If it weren't established by Korn, Family Values would be the perfect tour for Lamb of God to be on. Think of the "Redneck" video where the Christian couple sees "Lamb of God" in the yellow pages to play for their kid's birthday party. And then consider their previous moniker was Burn the Priest. :o

I'm not quite sure what that has to do with them being right for Family Values, but I'll take your word for it.

lamb of god = title given to Jesus for the sacrifice he made Lamb of God (formerly Burn the Priest) = ferocious metal band with staunch anti-religious lyrics and message family values = phrase/concept generally used and promoted by conservative Christians Family Values = package tour that Korn started, ironically named, due to the general teen angst found in the lyrics by its primary contributors (or, if you will, the implications of the Parental Advisory stickers on many of the artists' albums)
So considering the Christian overtones of the phrase "family values," Lamb of God is the perfect band to play on the tour, if you overlook the fact that it was started by Korn, a band most Lamb of God fans wouldn't consider metal, and thus, a tour most Lamb of God fans would consider way too mainstream and again, "not metal."
I cannot explain it any clearer than that.

I guess I just wasn't thinking of family values in a Christian connotation.

And I thought the name of the tour came from the fact that it was mostly led by bands of the same genre and thus they were a "family". Y'know, pushing their values?

Heh. I never knew about that. It's funny because if he had read Korn's lyrics he'd understand it's Jon's own experiences, not a promotion of violent crime. But I guess that's all way in the past now. I didn't know that's how they advertised it either. I wasn't really a big music listener at that point in time.

After reading that, I totally forgot that I actually have the live album from the first Family Values Tour in '98. I didn't know any of this either and I've been hearing material from Korn for over ten years. Very interesting...

I'm looking at some of their MTV Unplugged work on MTV Hits and Creep was actually pretty good.

I didn't know that's how they advertised it either. Yeah, the majority of the promotional artwork had 1950's-looking illustrations, often with violent twists, such as a housewife aiming a pistol: A buddy of mine had a t-shirt from 1998 that was a straight on shot of a father driving a car, but I can't remember who the passenger was that gave it the twist.

Oh yeah, come to think of it, I do remember that ad on the left. That was when I assumed those bands were evil. Oh to be a naive youth again.

I know Incubus had the song "New Skin" on the live album in '98 and remember it was Track 2 after the first C-Minus (DJ I guess) intro. I wonder how come they never put them on the ad. It's amazing that out of the six acts there, they were the smallest back then. However, nine years later, I believe they'd be not too far behind Korn.

This could possibly be one of the worst "songs" ever.

It was because Incubus replaced Ice Cube on the tour after awhile, when he had to leave to start shooting a movie. ( Next Friday is the only one immediately coming to mind.)
