Chris Cornell has announced that he is permanently departing from Audioslave stating, "Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors." "Audioslave's really been more of a collaboration, anyway, and I'm a guy that writes a lot of songs, and I write a lot by myself."
Cornell has also announced a May 1st release date for his upcoming new solo album titled "Carry On".

I didn't post this because I wasn't sure if it would fit here but since you already did it, I'll comment.
I think this is disappointing, but not unexpected. Morello is a very outspoken character and Cornell had made clear his desire to not delve into politics, and obviously the two trains of thought were clashing. With Chris working on the solo album and Rage reuniting for some shows and no tour behind Revelations, I think it was obvious what was happening, but I still wish it wasn't so.

seeing as how they've been such a successful rock band I thought it should be posted. I was tempted to post the article about the Fall Out Boy member being Bisexual but that's not really newsbreaking...

And here I just heard (most of) "Revelations" for the first time Monday night on my former active rock station, on the drive back to my parents' house. It sounded pretty good.
I can't say I'm surprised, what with the lack of touring, lackluster sales, Cornell solo endeavors, and now Rage (one-off) reunion.
I guess I'll eventually get a used copy of the third album since I already have the first two, even though I haven't exactly revisited either of them much.

My dad has the third album. He says besides Revelations and Original Fire it's really mediocre.
