According to Tunelab Music, this is the next single.
"The Red Hot Chili Peppers are asking fans to create the music video for their new single "Charlie." A contest is being run via YouTube, where the winner will receive $5,000 and a trip to meet the band and see them perform in Paris on July 6th."
I'm officially confused. What single are we up to now? Sixth, right? What happened to "Hump De Bump" and "Desecration Smile"?

I'm guessing "Hump De Bump" was shelved in favor of this and "Desecration Smile" will still be fifth.

Could "Charlie" be after "Hump De Bump"?
I do like "Charlie" better, so I wouldn't mind if HDB got de bump. ;)

It'd be cool if somebody made a video tying the song in with Lost. They'd be sued immediately, of course, but it would still be cool. I'm surprised RHCP hasn't thought of the possible cross-promotion here.

They lost any momentum after the second single. What was the third?

They lost any momentum after the second single. What was the third? Uhh... "Snow (hey Oh)" was the third single. And i don't think they lost any momentum after the second single because "Snow" went to #1 and is one of their best songs.

"Snow (Hey Oh)" was third after "Dani California" and "Tell Me Baby", but 'Snow' did very well -- #1 Modern Rock hit, and made it to #22 on the Hot 100. I agree that it's time to figure out what the next single's gonna be. edit: Dan's a faster typist than me.

If anything I would say Snow has maintained the momentum quite well for the album and RHCP

"Charlie" is a much more radio-friendly single choice than "Hump de Bump" would have been. (Is?)
If they're going to save "Stadium Arcadium," then this is the best choice they could make, in my opinion. Although if they put out "Arcadium" after that, they run the risk of it bombing, due to album burnout. Like how "Dosed" got screwed and never got a video made.

Desecration as i know is relesead only in Europe.
For USA,canada & Australia the 4° single is Hump De Bump, the video directed by Chris Rock (with urban style&models) will be premiered 13 March in Australia.
the 5° single (or maybe not single but only video) will be Charlia, video made by fans.
sincerally i don't understand some single choice..Wet Sand and Storm In teacup should be released imho..
hope that Charlie fan made video will be good (like some incubus-dig video) and no noobs-13yearsold made with teengirl pseudorock playing guitar & sing or love story..please.

It'd be silly to release "Charlie" to Canada now because "Hump De Bump" is already at #26.

I'm still hoping Storm In A Teacup gets released. I hope it's the next one.
I didn't want Charlie next. I wanted SIAT, DS, the title track, and Hump De Hump or Charlie as the final. (They're releasing seven, right?) The final single won't perform that well because of album burnout, so I wanted the worst out of the bunch to be released last.
