I'm kind of surprised that I couldn't find a thread already for this in the search engine, but I could have sworn I saw one in the past week.
Anyway, this goes for adds at Alternative on March 26th as the third single from Meds. It's not a bad song, but is it really a good choice? I don't have their album, but this just seems to be like an album closer type and not really single material.

Are they kidding? They are releasing this lame cover of the Kate Bush classic? God, this band needs to die. They were good at one time - about a decade ago.

Hot Kate Bush remake! (Literally)
I likes 'em, especially Sleeping with Ghosts and to a lesser extent, Without You I'm Nothing.
But why are they releasing this. Are they releasing some B-sides compilation? I mean, this remake itself is OLD. It was even on the limited-edition version of SWG.

Huh, I thought "Broken Promise" was gonna be the third single. I mean, I know alternative won't play any new music featuring Michael Stipe anymore, but still.
The album is really good, though I haven't listened to it enough to cement that opinion. The only problem I have with this release is that I've grown to love Kate Bush's version of this so much lately that I wonder how I'd receive this on the radio. I mean, I have no philosophical problem with remakes, even if they're clearly inferior to the original, so long as they're good. Then again, I doubt this will even make a dent considering that the other two singles didn't do much, strictly speaking.

Interesting. Placebo's version doesn't beat the original. Wasn't this song featured on The O.C. or some show? I remember last year it almost made the Hot 100 on downloads alone.

The original is a classic. Quite a few artists have ripped off the original in recent years from Coldplay in "Speed of Sound" to Charlotte Martin in "Limits of Our Love". Tori Amos even played portions of it in her last US tour. I am not sure I care a whole lot for the remake, although I have to give it a few more listens before I make my final judgment.

I never heard of this band until "Infra-Red"...and I don't get the hype, they're kind of annoying.

I just think it's ironic that they got their "break" here about a decade after their creative and commercial peak everywhere else. They are regarded as pure camp in the UK now. Laughingstock status? Not far off.

I've always liked Placebo, and I was quite happy to see them get some sort of airplay with Meds. I was hoping that Broken Promise was the next single as The End in Seattle's been playing it regularly for a few months.
I'm not sure I agree with Placebo releasing this as a single considering its been out for so long.

The MEDS album was terrible. They are parodying themselves at this point. Brian Molko's contributions to the Gainsbourg Revisited compilation were acceptable, at least. I think they need to take some time off and really reconsider what it is they hope to accomplish at this point in their career.

Does anyone remember or know how well Pure Morning did back in the late 90s? I still hear it once in awhile on WPBZ when I go home. It seems to be a favorite of listeners when they do the "recycled" weekends.

I respect them for using a Garbage lyric for an album title but I resent them for suddenly exploding here (relatively speaking), when they are way past their expiration date & so many superior fresh acts could be getting the attention instead.
