I heard most of this tonight. As far as the instrumentation went, aside from the spare beat Meg kept, everything else was a fantastic mess. Mostly I loved how loud and intense Jack was singing.

I'm still dying to listen to this new album. Supposedly, it's quite a departure from their previous sound. They keep shifting in new directions, which probably holds my interest, although I wouldn't really place them in my "core" group of artists.
For whatever reason, this reminds me of "Cochise" by Audioslave.

The single has an awesome cover. If I saw that at a store, I'd buy it. After all, I do have the "Blue Orchid" single.
I'm amazed how well that it's catching on. I like how this doesn't really have much resemblance to the Get Behind Me Satan material. Just when you think they've gone everywhere creatively, they prove the listeners wrong.
De Stijl, WBC, and GBMS are all some of my top twenty favorite albums of all-time.

This song makes me want to do drugs. I can't handle how good this song is, this album is certainly going to be bought first day for me. I heard, actually I read, that bagpipes are going to be used on this album.

I'm giving this song an A+[/color] right away. I can't think of any The White Stripes singles I've even liked on first listen besides "Seven Nation Army", although they all seem to come around with time.

I'm suprised I'm liking so much new material from a band I used to hate with a passion.

I can't say ever I ever hated the Stripes, but just never really cared for them until I heard Blue Orchid and then liked My Doorbell as well. Other than Seven Nation Army (for some odd reason since everyone seems to like it more than any other one) and The Denial Twist, I can't say I dislike any of their previous singles.

I guess I'm the same as you, except that The Denial Twist has grown on me. I remember absolutely hating Seven Nation Army when it came out, though. I still don't care for it much. Absurdly overrated.

I'm actually kind of surprised. This song has actually grown to be one of my favorite singles from them. Then again, they would have had to knock off Linkin Park...not. likely.

I like some stuff from them, as for this, when I listened to the 30 second clip on iTunes when it was first released, I didn't. I will check again.

What an amazing debut week for the Stripes as Icky Thump debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart and selling an estimated 223,000 copies being their best opening week sales ever.

I don't remember what the deal was about playing the one note at that particular venue, but he played an actual show elsewhere that evening.
