There hasn't been a lot of buzz on any particular track but "What I've Done" has served it's purpose. It may only have a few more weeks to squeeze out before losing it's chart topping status. Anyway, lets track the next "MTM" smash here. I'll start with the current buzz on candidate follow-ups... Billboard also list cd single release dates for "Given Up" (8/6) and "Shadow of the Day" (10/8) but there's a 2 month lapse inbetween.

Then "Given Up" will probably be to Active and "Shadow Of The Day" to Alternative and Pop. Mark my words, that will probably be their plan.

There are actually a lot of single worthy songs.
Given Up Bleed it Out Leave Out All The Rest Shadow of The Day No More Sorrow (maybe, but maybe not) In Between

It's so funny how polarizing this album has been. All Music Guide, NME, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, and Now all gave it bad to horrible reviews (although honestly All Music's Stephen Thomas Erlewine was probably a bad choice as a reviewer), and Rolling Stone, Blender, Rock Sound, and IGN all gave it great to good reviews. And users voted 6.0 out of 10 on Metacritic, so even the fans are polarized.

I love it, and think it is some of, if not their best work yet.

I hope it's not "Given Up". Same here, its just terrible. I think "Bleed It Out" is the only good choice for the second single. "Leave Out All The Rest" will make a great third.

I don't see why Given Up is so terrible. It's certainly not worse than One Step Closer. I like both songs, btw kthanxbye.

"Given Up" practically is already a single, it's in the Top 50 at Active (although bulletless?)
I really wish it wasn't, as far as singles go it's One Step Closer Pt. 3.

It's pretty good. btw Rolling Stone gave their album 4 stars :o Good for them, although I don't put a whole lot of credence in Rolling Stone these days. The fact that they named the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ last album as the best album of 2006 shows how out of touch they are nowadays. Any magazine that not only gives Joanna Newsom's Ys two stars, but flaunts the fact that they only gave it two stars demonstrates how out of touch they really are in regards to creative and avant garde music. Why they wanted to flaunt the fact that they really don’t have a clue in regards to what is the best and most interesting music nowadays is beyond me.

I don't see more than two Top 10 (Alternative) singles on this album. Add this along to the list of huge disappointments with new albums in the past year.

You people are insane. This album is so amazing. It is one of the best albums I have ever listened to in my life, and I've heard like a thousand.

"Leave Out All the Rest" screamed single when I first listened to the album, so I kinda assumed that'd be #2. But I agree; either that or "Bleed It Out" would work just fine.

So you're agreeing with me then? lol...but does anyone else feel like the swearing on this record feels forced?

but does anyone else feel like the swearing on this record feels forced? I don't think so. Maybe I haven't listened to it enough for the songs to set in with me, but I honestly don't see what the big deal is about this, anyway. If it was 2000, I could understand, but they're not fighting off Limp Bizkit comparisons anymore. I know one of the things everyone says about them was how great it was that they were able to make such aggressive songs without swearing, but swear words don't really make an album or song any more or less aggressive-sounding. And it's not like they went overboard with it either. So if that's what they wanted to do with the songwriting, then I really don't have a problem with it.
