I just took a RateTheMusic survey on Strata and this was the only song available to comment on so I assume Wind-Up is trying to determine if this should be the next single. As soon as I heard this song on the album, I knew it had potential to be their next choice. I'd also like "Hot/Cold (Darling Don't)" and "Poughkeepsie, NY", but hopefully this does well enough for them to get them to that point. "Cocaine" unfortunately didn't do as well for them as "Paralyzer" is doing for Finger Eleven.

I just took another survey for Strata on "Hot/Cold (Darling Don't)", and I think since "Stay Young" has yet to go for adds, they're trying to determine which song will get the best reaction. I guess we'll find out sooner or later which song is going to be the real single. And AllAccess can suck it until then.
At any rate, I'd expect both songs to be singles if it pans out that way, but this next single could easily be Strata's last unless it blows up. Wind-Up is many things but one thing I don't think they are is eager to waste money.

Geez, I had no idea until coming across them in the Warped issue of AP the other day, but they're not a new-metal/post-grunge band anymore. :o
AP describes their sound as "indie-pop" now, comparing them to Death Cab for Cutie, Muse, and Bright Eyes. :o :o :o
(Though I take AP's three-band comparisons with a grain of salt, because if they're describing a band I know well, the comparisons are a stretch often times.)

Actually, everyone who's heard the album has been comparing them to Interpol and Death Cab mostly. I don't really think it's such a huge change from their first album, but then you called them a nu-metal/post-grunge band and I felt for one that they in no way were a nu-metal group on their first album and I thought their songs on the self-titled had far more lyrical and musical depth than most post-grunge bands. So this album doesn't really come as a surprise to me. It feels like the next logical step.

I figured that they'd stick with "Stay Young". I bet "Hot/Cold" will be the third single, if it comes to that.

the band grew a lot since their previous album. I was disappointed there weren't more songs like Cocaine on the album but as a whole, it's really good. I like it when bands take things in a different direction than fans think they will. Strata did it, Finger Eleven did it, The Receiving End Of Sirens are doing it, and there are more to come. I see Strata having a better future now than I saw for them a few years ago.
