You think I'm an elitist asshole just because I don't care for (not even "dislike") Shinedown and Trapt? And my bosses good-naturedly give me a hard time about a lot of the music I like...bands I'll proudly defend, such as: modern era AFI, modern era Chili Peppers, Avenged Sevenfold, 311, blink-182, Atreyu, The Used, My Chemical Romance, Good Charlotte, Eighteen Visions, Bleeding Through, Skid Row, Transplants, Mudvayne, 30 Seconds to Mars, Coldplay, and Justin Timberlake. (Bands I'll admit to liking but won't bother defending too much include Korn, Orgy, Cold, Spineshank, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Coal Chamber and Staind) I can only imagine the crap they'd give you. (For what it's worth, I use Windows, drink Folgers/Maxwell House coffee, and would never wear a beret. ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif) )

I see how at the end there you remembered it was a gag, good to see common sense eventually intervened.
I probably wouldn't like your bosses, but how old are your bosses anyway? If they're old, it's more okay, because they're just crotchety.

To be serious, you are kind of acting like an asshole. I'm surprised you don't see it.

how did this go from the talk from the new BB single to all this flaming? can we get back on topic please?
The song is actually pretty good, but not anything close to "Breath".

I've been waiting for an adds date for this for like three to four months now. I've been hearing "Breath" constantly on the radio since before this year even started. While I'm burnt out on it, I still love it as much as I did when I first listened to "Phobia" last year.

If they're old, it's more okay, because they're just crotchety. One's a year older than me, the other's 4 years older than me. Hell, there's another guy there that's two years younger than me who would give me crap just the same, if only he were as big of a kidder. There's a girl there 3 years younger than me who would dislike that stuff too, if it were only on her radar (some of it is). Age isn't much of a factor here. I think it has to do more with your demeanor and how you think you're cool because you think certain bands are boring. If I'm an elitist asshole and too-cool-for-school because modern grunge bands don't get me excited and the way I express my ennui rubs some people the wrong way, then I guess that's that, isn't it?

Expressing your ennui? Isn't that indecent exposure? I don't know what an ennui is but damned if it doesn't sound like some kind of body part.
On the subject of your co-workers, it's my opinion that one of life's great failings is that we all just can't seem to get along. I guess everyone's got to be better than somebody nowadays or they're just nobody, or so seems to be the case in today's tactless opinionated society. I'm so jaded I'm glowing green. It could just be radiation though.

en·nui (än 'wç; Fr. ä n'nwç ', n. [ pl. ENNUIS (-wçz; Fr. -nwç ')], [Fr.; see ANNOY], weariness and dissatisfaction resulting from inactivity or lack of interest; boredom. [ EDIT: the ç's that showed up in my reply were supposed to have been e's with the long-sound line over the top. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) ] I guess, though, with the etymology being French, by pure coincidence, this plays right into your hands, what with the beret-wearer in the cartoon, and all. ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif) And I consider every one of my co-workers there my friends, especially my main two bosses I spoke of. Those two are like the brothers I never had. (No slight meant to my actual brother.) You'd be hard pressed to find a closer knit group of employees anywhere. Most of us do stuff outside of work together on a regular basis. I've felt very lucky to have worked there for the past year.

Resulting from inactivity, eh? Well I'm sure you know your business. ;)
By the way, that's lovely. I kind of feel a bit the same about where I work except I don't do things with my co-workers outside of work, but it kind of has a whole homey kind of feel to it. I've been to other stores to help them out and it always feels good coming back to home base.
I mean, good natured ribbing is all well and good, if that's what it is. We do that too. But some people just have a stick up their ass about things and don't really know how to express their feelings in a way that doesn't make them sound two chops short of a woodcut. That's all I'm saying.
Hang around Tunelab for a bit, for example. Some of the things they say just throw the whole world out of alignment.

I mean, good natured ribbing is all well and good, if that's what it is. Yeah, they put down bands I like, but it's totally good-natured. For example, Sunday I knew Best Buy had Atreyu's new record for $9.99 this week. I noticed our store was selling it "on sale" for $14.99. I was lamenting to the asst. mgr. that I'd have to buy it from Best Buy, and scoffing that we were selling it for $5 more. He replied with, "That's because no one [who shops here]'s going to want it anyway." And I had no comeback, because I usually don't have any on the spot.

October 1st, and oh my GOD it's about time. You've said it. I believe "Breath" went for adds like back in January. It's like the longest time period between singles that I've ever seen.

Yeah that is a long period of time, I'm trying to think of a time period between add dates for consecutive singles that can match that. How about "Broken Down" between "Face To Face" by Sevendust off their Seasons album. I feel like it was somewhat similar to that, even though "Broken Down" didn't last on the charts remarkably long, they just took forever to put out the third single. I know the Red Hot Chili Peppers were making a huge deal about making the video for "Charlie." Is that ever gonna become a single, because another single off of stadium arcadium at this point would be getting added well after "Hump de Bump." How about the time elapsed between the add dates of "Headstrong" and "Still Frame" given the former took forever to peak. But I can't think of anything else that rivals this really.

I remember it was quite a while between Fastball's "Fire Escape" and "Out of My Head". Don't know if they released the latter to alternative, but "Fire Escape" did hit #13 on Billboard Modern Rock.

OH YEAH!!!! Fastball was my favorite band back then (I was a pretty awesome 5th grader if I may say so myself.) And I remember "The Way" blowing up and then "Fire Escape" coming out and thinking that was it for them being on the radio with this album, and then I listened to my top 40 station like a year later, and I heard "Out Of My Head" and was very happily confused. Then I kept hearing it and was just plain happy. That's an amazing example, thank you for that because that's the most nostalgic I've been in forever.

Wow, Fastball. That reminds me a lot of 9th & 10th grade. Damn I feel old now heh. I actually still have their album somewhere. I think "The Way" may still be one of the biggest songs over the past ten years, and it seemed that unless someone was living in a cave, they had to have heard it somewhere. I don't remember "Fire Escape" doing that incredibly well, or at least I don't remember hearing it much on the radio here. I remember "Out Of My Head" being a huge pop hit, and hearing it along with Sugar Ray's "Every Morning" and Smash Mouth's "Then The Morning Comes" on the way to school many times in 10th grade. Ah, good memories.

The only thing I could come up with was "Send the Pain Below" to "Closure" by Chevelle. But it turns out it was only January to September.
Breaking Benjamin's "Breath" (December in St. Louis) to whenever they add "Until the End" will be longer.

Well, I don't remember any of the dates for these add weeks, but with 4 singles from the 30 Seconds To Mars CD released over a three year period, they've gotta be a part of this discussion too.

Crossfade's "Cold" was January 2004 and "So Far Away" was October. That's a pretty long wait, and since Breaking Benjamin's gap is between January and October as well, I'd say they're almost tied, except I think Breaking Benjamin's gap is longer by a week.

Yes, definitely. I remember there being a ridiculous amount of time between when I forget which period, but it was either between "Attack" and "The Kill" or "The Kill" and "From Yesterday" It's been basically about two years since "Attack" was released to radio and "A Beautiful Lie" is still on the charts currently. That doesn't happen that often that it takes long for a fourth single to become something after the album was released, but after three very successful singles, it makes sense.
