Non-album, iTunes single from Beck, which was released on August 21. It can be streamed at P4K: www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/forkcast/44990-beck-timebomb-streamIt's starting out pretty well: 0.944 audience/97 spins AAA: 8 Active: 1 Alternative: 88 I think the song is kinda meh, and I hope this is not the result of the collaboration with Jamie Lidell.

I love it. Better than "Nausea".

I think it's alright. I like it better than "Nausea" and "Girl" but I haven't really been too impressed with any of Beck's singles since the Odelay album years ago.

Seriously, I think he's been treading water on his last three albums. I still have hope for a great record from him though.

I liked "Nausea", but this is just awful.

I guess I'm the odd man out but I really like it. This is my favorite from him since "E-Pro." Yes, it's repetitive. But it's got a very pulsing, urgent vibe to it. It also strays pretty heavily into the electronic realm which I happen to love. So yeah, I guess my music taste sucks.

Top 40 now on the Mediabase alternative chart with a +133 bullet. I'm hoping that this is a big hit for Beck despite the fact that he's a Scientologist. :)

I like it a lot. Yeah, it's repetitive and doesn't really go anywhere, but it's damn catchy and it just feels fresher than anything of his singles since Midnight Vultures.

i can't stand him or his music, too much hype for a guy that... (IMO) is not that talented a vocalist, even some of his biggest hits were really bad (once again IMO)

It leaves us with 5 (arguably) great albums, on which he took different genres and shaped them into what he wanted them to sound.
While I wouldn't personally call that 'genius', it's surely much, much more than we can say about most artists.

Contrary to popular opinions, I think that post-Odelay Beck can be great in general. I actually like Mutations, Midnite Vultures and Guero all more than Mellow Gold in fact. There. I said it. Maybe it has something to do with the other 3 being closer to "my time" apart from hearing "Loser" all of the time on the radio. Also, that MV was generally hilarious and "Mixed Bizness" is to me one of the finest Beck singles.
Although I admit that I was mildly disappointed in The Information, the weakest Beck record that I've heard yet. I'm sure that I'll hear this soon.

Up two spots to #33 on Modern Rock. I don't think it'll go much higher, though.

I think it's alright. I like it better than "Nausea" and "Girl" but I haven't really been too impressed with any of Beck's singles since the Odelay album years ago. Huh. I never really got Beck, but then I heard GUERO and I was instantly converted. Then I got THE INFORMATION, and while it wasn't quite as good as the former, it was still enjoyable. But you're right, I don't think he's a singles artist. He's all about creating solid, complete albums with a precise theme that runs throughout.
