www.purevolume.com/ludoAccording to absolutepunk, it is the single off of their major label debut called You're Awful, I Love You which is going to be out sometime early next year.

They haven't put out a song that I've liked yet, so I don't have high hopes for this.

I can't tell if this is supposed to be a novelty band or not.

The first two bands that i thought of when hearing this song were Say Anything & The White Stripes. Yeah, I know. Quite a strange combination.

I can't tell if this is supposed to be a novelty band or not. I don't know, maybe half their songs are novelty songs, from what I can tell. Oh, and surprisingly, this is their best song yet. I still don't think they have a prayer of recouping for Island/Def Jam, but they'll sell more albums than I would've thought before hearing this song. His insult delivery in this song reminds me of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch."

His insult delivery in this song reminds me of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." Ah, that's it! I knew the vocal inflection reminded me of something but couldn't put my finger on it. I'm liking this so far... but I've always liked the Grinch song too, so no surprise there. What does the phrase "Love Me Dead" mean anyway? Sounds like something someone who didn't know English would say.

I have to admit that I really like the title. Made me think it was gonna be a metal song.

It's probably just some joke title they came up while having a goof on an uneducated southern accent, akin to saying something like, "I'm gonna shoot you dead" or "kill you dead."

I guess... it's just a really odd way to say it. At first I thought they were looking for a rhyme, but then I realized they couldn't possibly have come up with the lyric "Must be the sign on my head" first. Still a fun song though.

I can't tell if this is supposed to be a novelty band or not. I think the are. Watching the funny video makes me dislike the song a little less. It sounds absolutely terrible on the radio.

I think calling them a novelty band is almost an insult, really. I mean, they seem to just be injecting a little humor into their songs, which honestly a lot more bands could do with. I really like "Drunken Lament" and "Lake Ponchartrain".

I can't believe I never commented on how unbelievably awesome the line "You suck so passionately / You're a parasitic, psycho, filthy creature finger-banging my heart" is. Not even the whole line, really. Just the fact that somebody worked the word "finger-banging" into an otherwise actually decent pop song. This song's got an abundance of clever lyrics, but nothing tops the awesomeness of that.

I can't help but allude to the "90's resurrection" that oscillations has referred to when listening to this song. At the risk of getting lambasted, I think this sounds exactly like a mid-to-late '90s throwback.
Nick is absolutely correct about the abundance of clever lyrics. The "hate / love" contrast has been tried often in modern rock ("I Hate..." by Three Days Grace comes to mind), but they find a way to weave the lyrics into something a bit more specific....and interesting.
