In the CHR/Pop top 40, that would be Blues Travelers "Runaround" which spent 43 weeks in the top 40, second goes to Edwin McCain "I'll Be" which spent 42 weeks.

I think Blues Traveler may also have the record for most weeks at #5 for a #5 peak. They were at that position for five weeks...I don't know if that's the record though...

from my chart data (late 1988 - present):
Most weeks at number 5 for a song that peaked at #5:
"Run Around" - 5 weeks in 1995 "For You I Will" - 5 weeks in 1997

Would #6 be "Wherever You Will Go" (5 weeks)? And #7 "Cleaning Out My Closet" (also 5 weeks)?

Tal Bachman's "She's So High" also spent 5 weeks at #7

I don't have my chart notes in front of me, but I could have sworn that Real McCoy's "Another Night" had the record with 45 weeks. Am I mistaken?

"Another Night" spent 41 weeks in the Top 40, which puts them third place, behind Blues Traveler and Edwin McCain, for the most weeks a song spent in the Top 40.
