Listening to FLZ right now, and I can't believe it! They're playing "Bigger Than My Body". I thought they NEVER played John Mayer (I don't think they ever aired "Body is a Wonderland" or "No Such Thing"). Methinks this song may have potential dark-horse Top Ten writ- ten all over it.

'FLZ is the Tampa station, right? I was in Sarasota a few years ago for work, and these call letters sound familiar.
As for the song, I don't see it hitting Top 10. I guess somewhere between 15-20 with it getting gains between 100 and 200 for the next 5 weeks or so.

Yes, it is---and arguably the best pop station in the US Well, they can't be that great IMO if they never played John Mayer's other two hits (one of which went top 10). I hope that BTMB can hold on and head into the top 15. It really is a great song.

Yes, it is---and arguably the best pop station in the US I don't know about that. XL 106.7 in Orlando is a darn good station. Much better than any of the ones in the NYC metro area or New England.

ahh FLZ, those letters bring back great memories of Tampa/St. Pete
We usually try to go down every summer, my grandparent's have a home there, but I haven't been since July/August of 2001.
I really miss it!
I want to go in December, when I have time off for school, but I don't know if that's gonna happen.
I also like WLLD Wild 98.7 when I'm down there. It's pretty good.

KHTS has started playing it too. Lately, they have started to jump on rock songs a little earlier than they used to.

I think John Mayer's latest may be in trouble actually, and despite hanging in there and not losing a massive amount of spins, will fluctuate between losing its bullet and re-gaining a tiny bullet at the bottom of the Top 20, just like Train's "Calling All Angels"
It's bullet is also very small on Hot AC and it is losing spins at Triple A, another unfortunate sign for John Mayer.
I don't think any other track off of "Heavier Things" will become a hit at all on CHR/Pop or even Hot AC, and this will become the moment John Mayer is limited to Triple A stardom, despite continuing healthy album sales.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I think the choruses to "Bigger Than My Body," is what saves the song, it is capable of catching the listener's attention. However, I think the verses in between exemplifies the monotone sound of John Mayer singles. It seems a bit dull and boring. Overally, the song is pretty decent at best.
Although, I can see why the track may not be striking a chord at the format. It doesn't seem like the type to play in power rotation.

"Only Heart" doesn't even really strike me as something that would impact radio outside of Triple A. It reminds me a lot of the Wallflowers sound, and the Wallflowers haven't gotten a big hit on even Hot AC since "Three Marlenas". I like the guitars in the song but I disagree with it being radio-friendly. Too bluesy for CHR/Pop or Hot AC. "Something's Missing" is even less radio-friendly than "Only Heart". It's duration is too long (just over 5 minutes) and has too slow of a tempo. The main riff reminds me a lot of Bruce Cockburn's musical style, who has never impacted CHR/Pop or Hot AC radio. It would put MTV, TRL, even VH1 listeners possibly to sleep if they heard it in expecting for him to earn a huge hit off that track. I actually think the best option for John Mayer is to re-mix "Daughters" in a more pop-friendly sounding version (increase the song's tempo, add some percussion and enhance the pitch of the acoustic guitars) and release that as the follow-up to BTMB on the radio. His huge young woman fan-base will swoon over this and older female audiences will also be sure to promote it to a great extent if it is released as a single and made to sound more radio-friendly. If he does do this, then he can actually get another hit from this album, but other than that, I see none of his other tracks doing anything on Pop or Hot AC radio. John Mayer will join Jack Johnson, Pete Yorn, and Ben Harper in the "artists that no longer impact CHR/Pop but still make great album sales" club on Triple A otherwise. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Oh my GOD no. I love every song on this album but "Daughters" is garbage. I skip it everytime. You don't think "Only Heart" has a catchy hook? Which really is what radio is all about. I also don't think the length factor of "Something's Missing" would be a problem... they'd just shorten it for radio. The "check" part at the end of the song is unique and kind of fun to sing along with... and the message of the song is very relatable. I'm not saying "SM" would be a Pop hit, but at least another Top 10 HAC if it's released.

I'm not saying "SM" would be a Pop hit, but at least another Top 10 HAC if it's released. "Daughters" is not my favorite from the album either, but I have a strong feeling all young women would embrace this if it was released. I like the hook of "Only Heart", but it just doesn't sound like its fit for CHR/Pop. The verses sound really close to a lot of the sound off the Wallflowers album "Breach" and then the chorus is swift but has too much of a bluesy Smooth Jazz or AC fuzz to it. It'll explode at Triple A I'm sure and possibly at least scrape the Top 20 on Hot AC before falling, but leave no lasting impression like his earlier hits. I honestly think he'll only get one or two hits from this album outside of AAA. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Yes, it is---and arguably the best pop station in the US I took a look at their playlist and year-to-date chart and it isn't anything terribly exciting. The only thing that struck me was that they are playing Willa Ford.

The only thing that struck me was that they are playing Willa Ford. That's because she's from nearby Ruskin and she's a featured artist at this year's Guavaween celebration in Ybor City.
