The Invisible single is released on December 9th, correct?
So that means 3 more Hot 100's before "Invisible" rockets up to #1
Hey Ya! will probably be supplanted from #1 by "Invisible", (It will be coming off 3 straight weeks at #1, because I think it will kick out Baby Boy on the next chart, but I guess there is a small chance of Baby Boy hanging on for a 10th straight week and Hey Ya! being relegated to #2) but only for a couple of weeks and then it should jump back into #1, unless there is another song challenging on airplay

"Miss Independent" didn't go to #1 (or did it?) so I really wouldn't expect this one to.

"Miss Independent" didn't go to #1 (or did it?) so I really wouldn't expect this one to. "Miss Independant" did not get a commercial release; if it did, no question it would have gone to #1 and been a much bigger hit than it was. It would have been this year's biggest selling single I'm sure. Also, the song got mostly pop airplay only---wasn't a big hit on rhythmic stations, so didn't quite get the audience impressions needed to reach higher on the Hot 100 based on airplay alone. If Clay does take the #1 spot away from OutKast (and it's quite likely he will), I agree that there's a good chance OutKast may regain the top spot after a few weeks, just like what happend last year with 'Dilemma" and "A Moment Like This".

i believe they pushed it ahead a week to dec 16th so it wont go head to head with rubens cd. They would want the two to be in stores together. That way, people will buy both Ruben's album and Clay's single while they're at the store. Albums and singles do not compete against eachother.

Keith, yea I believe Miss Independent peaked at #9 on the Hot 100, but it was a #1 smash on Pop radio. It just didn't get the help from other formats to push it higher.
and yea, I imagine a similar event will happen like "A Moment Like This" knocked Dilemma out of #1 for 2 weeks, after Dilemma had been at #1 for 7 straight, and then Dilemma came back for another 3 weeks after A Moment Like This' sales subsided.
So "Hey Ya!" could be at #1 for a good 4 weeks on the Hot 100 before Clay knocks it out.
irice22, you can't really compare Miss Independent to this situation because Clay's fans are crazy lunatics that will go scoop this single up like it's going out of style, pushing the sales to like 500k. I don't think Kelly Clarkson's fans are like that, even if THERE WAS a single for Miss Independent. I know they did it for A Moment Like This, but that was because that wasn't featured on an album, and it was the 'hot' thing to go out and buy.

i did not mean that ruben cd and clays single would compete on the same chart.i meant that alot of rubens fans were upset that clays cd got released before rubens even though ruben won american idol.so it is understandable that alot of rubens fans were upset when they announced that clays single was going to be released on dec 9th the same day as rubens cd.well anyway they changed their mind now clays single will be out dec 16th.

Amazon still says December 9 for both CDs. ...and they are usually always up to date with date changes. Every one of the 90 times Mariah's "The Remixes" had a date change, they changed their listing the same day.

I think this may be the next #1 after Outkast.

I'm surprised that this song is doing well. This song is kinda too weird for my taste. But who knows, it might grow on me in a week or two.

"Miss Independant" did not get a commercial release; if it did, no question it would have gone to #1 and been a much bigger hit than it was. Are you referring to Billboard or Mediabase? Because it definately did hit #1 on Mediabase...and regardless of the success on Billboard, "Miss Independent" was hands down one of the biggest songs of the summer.

I heard this on the radio in Sacramento. It was nice being able to listen to a CHR/Pop station for a change. There are no CHR/Pop stations in San Francisco, unless one counts Radio Disney AM.
