OK, I'm kind of confused here. I didn't get a chance to listen to Rick's show Friday morning so I went to his website to check out the new chart. It says on the homepage that Mariah Carey debuted and the chart mentions her new at #36! I checked R&R and Lumidee is supposed to be at that position on Rick's chart this week. I'm sure it's a mistake, but why is "I Know What You Want" mentioned as a debut on the main page as well? The rest of the chart seems correct.

Rick played "I Know What You Want" as an Extra. For some reason, he doesn't like Lumidee and has been skipping over her for the last 5 weeks or so.
You can't always trust the website. I haven't seen it in awhile, but I know that "Miss Independent" was left on there in place of "Low." The same happened with "Get Busy"/"Like Glue."

That ALWAYS happens. I'm convinced the webmaster is just doing it on purpose. I only caught the #1 song when I woke up this morning, and Rick Dees said 3 Doors Down was #1 with "Without You."

Yeah, I noticed he kept skipping over Lumidee. I just figured the idiot lost the song or something.

If I'm not wrong, the Rick Dees chart is usually two weeks behind the official CHR/Pop chart right?

Rick's chart is normally one week behind R&R's pop chart, so two weeks behind the official Mediabase chart. Same with AT40. But I don't think there's a fixed day for updating Rick's website.

If anyone heard the show this weekend, do you know if Rick did his "#1 on your birthday" segment? Did he mentinon #1s in other countries? Did anyone win the Weekly Top 40 Challenge? I always write that stuff down and I missed those 3 bits of information.
Facts from this weekend:
• Mandy Moore's CD "Coverage" is all remakes. • "Take Me Away" is about a secret relationship. • Michelle Branch went to a nude beach with her cousin. • The word "shine" in "Deliverance" is referring to "moonshine," which is illegal booze. • The average temp. in Denmark this time of year is 12°. • 75 acts will be performing at VooDoo Fest in New Orleans for Halloween. • A history of how Halloween came to be. • A history of the internet, formely known as "arpanet" in 1969; over 2 million porn sites. • Teen singers/actresses: Hilary, Martika, JL Hewitt, Brandy, Janet, Imbruglia, Milian. • Pharrell uses the word "bazooka" for things he likes. • A list of "Big" songs over the past 10 years: "Big Me" by the Foo Fighters, "Big Big World" by Emelia and "Bigger Than My Body." • Justin Timberlake did an impersation on SNL of Ashton Kutcher. • Pink has 18 tattoos. • Jason Mraz used to work for a fencing company. • The lowest point on earth is sea level of the Dead Sea. • Nick and Jessica celebrate their 1-year anniversary. • The story going into #1 was pretty bizarre. It was something about lizards and Bud Lite commercials. I guess they've been replaced by 3 Doors Down.

Rick did the number ones on your birthday segment, flashing back to 1980, 1990, and 2000.

Rick did the number ones on your birthday segment, flashing back to 1980, 1990, and 2000. Yeah, but the only one he had right was the 2000 song, "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down. This weekend in 1990, "Black Cat" was number one on his show, but instead, he played a drop piece of "I Don't Have The Heart", which didn't hit number one on the Weekly Top 40 until the first weekend of November, 1990 (of course, if he was going by the date of the R&R chart, he'd be right). But I don't know where he got "Upside Down" by Diana Ross. That song had long since dropped from the top spot by the end of October, 1980, both on R&R and Billboard. This week in 1980, both charts had "Woman In Love" by Barbra Streisand. Huh? Oh yeah, I forgot, mistakes are what the Rick Dees show is all about. Never mind...

Another thing I was wondering is, regarding the song "My Love Is Like...Whoa!",why doesn't Rick just edit out the word "ass" in the line "My ass is like whoa" instead of editing out the line completely? It completely messes up the continuity of the song.

Because that's another thing Rick's show is all about. ;) A couple of years ago, Nelly's "Ride Wit' Me" was so horribly chopped up they would've been better off just skipping it entirely.

I guess I didn't notice. Another song that was custom edited (for AT40) was "The Humpty Dance" and it was only about a minute long as a result. Many stations, including U93, just decided to edit out what was left of the song.

Really? I didn't notice that one, but in the fall of 1991 on AT40, there was some rap song that was cut down to barely over a minute. I can't remember the name of it, but I know it never charted on Casey's Top 40.
BTW ulij20, are you still doing your Flashback posts?
