I've been wondering what the deal was, myself. I tried to access the site a couple times this weekend with no success. Hope the problem's only temporary.

Lol, I've had this site bookmarked for a long time! It is a good site; I often use it along with the Hot 100 archve site to compare song peaks and stuff. Now I know who's site it is! But who is this chartboy? I guess he's a student at UT Austin, but how do you guys know him?

The Hot 100 is weird. I can't believe songs like "A Thousand Miles" and "Complicated" didn't make #1. >:(

It's just that these songs will be looked back at as the #1's by people who don't know any better and they are basically all rhythmic! Songs like "Bump, Bump, Bump" are the classic songs of today I suppose. >:(

It's just that these songs will be looked back at as the #1's I agree that people who don't know better would think a song like "Complictaed" or "A Thousand Miles" got to #1, while the real #1's like "Bump Bump Bump" will be long forgotten a few years down the road.

Let me provide you an example of why i disagree with you.
"Bump Bump Bump" was a #1 hit on the hot 100, and it did block "Beautiful" from being #1. But BBB is not a bigger hit than "Complicated" "Beautiful" and "A Thousand Miles" because these songs did not suffer fast falls like how Bump Bump Bump did. So in the long run, those 3 songs were bigger hits than the B2K song and down the road those 3 songs will be remembered, unlike "Bump Bump Bump". I guess that's the advantage the Pop/Rock songs have on the Hot 100 over the Rhytmic songs. The Rhytmic songs may peak higher, but the Pop/Rock songs are lasting much longer.

Yes, this is the site I was referring to. It features a good archive, though it only lists artists who had 10 or more Hot 100 entries. The site has some other useful features---it mentions all the #1, #,2 and #3 hits in each year and also gives some Hot 100 record holders. I agree with some of the comments about songs that top the Hot 100 and the CHR/Pop chart. But Cerebro was right about the importance of a commercial releases for doing well on the Hot 100. We can all be sure that had "Beautiful" been released commercially, it would have gone to #1 (it might have even prevented B2K from topping the chart). Same with countless other songs like "Complicated", "In The End", "Bye Bye Bye", "A Thousand Miles", "Hanging By A Moment" and many others.

Especially not "Complicated" because the airplay margin between "Dilemma" and "Complicated" was huge. And if Dirrty only sold 30k in its first week, you can't expect Beautiful to sell much more, but I don't remember the airplay difference between "Bump, Bump, Bump" and Beautiful.

What is wrong with "Bump Bump Bump". It's a great dance / party song. Imo it is one of B2k's better releases

Hey, I haven't been on this site in ages, but yes, it's my site, yes, i'm a prof, actually it's UT-Arlington, but I run the site. If you guys catch errors, e-mails probably the best idea (from the site). Also, as the front page notes I'm still updating it, especially songs from 1976-1982. I've also considered revising the site (someday) to top 50 runs instead of top 40, but that's still a ways off. Anyway, just thought I'd let people know i'm back on the boards!

gawd, the world doesn't revolve around Christina! give it a freakin' break!!!! >:( >:( >:( ?_? Just cause they mentioned "Beautiful" doesn't mean their an obsessive freak. They were just giving an example (and a good example at that), and they even mentioned two other songs.

I'm sure everyone assumed that, since you said 'Nuff said. Maybe you should elaborate more yourself before you act like someone else is spazzing out.
