It started off with big gains, but now it's down to +170 or something like that. Is this going to flop? Did it even go for adds yet? If this flops, it would be a shame. Great song, very medoldic.

Yeah, its already gone for adds. I like this song, but I was expecting a lot more. I think Nelly Furtado is going down the same path Natalie Imbruglia went, becuz they both released their sophomore albums too late.

I hope not, it's easily my favorite song of hers.

At least Natalie had a video out in a timely manner, does Nelly have one coming yet?
Lately it seems artists (or maybe just their labels and management) aren't preparing enough in advance for album releases with the proper promotional tools, like videos and appearances and all that.

Whether you like the song or not, it is not pop friendly and that's why it's doing how it's doing. I said it before it even went to radio. ...and no, I don't care to argue the pop friendliness of it because some people don't realize the difference between pop friendliness and quality. Honestly, I think this has neither.

Honestly, I think this has neither. I agree, although I wouldn't be so harsh. It's not too shabby a song, and maybe it's the type that will take a long time to grow on people. I'll hold open that possibility at the very least. But it's definitely not #1 quality.

Unfortunately its sound is not very friendly to the pop radio enviorment right now.
As to promotion. I think Nelly's pregnancy and infant have put the kibbosh on vigorous promotion at this time.
Family comes first.

I think it is just as pop-friendly as her other songs, personally. And to prove I don't think pop-friendliness means quality, I hated "Turn off the Lights" and "Like a Bird." Well, for "Like a Bird," the chorus was good, but I'm surprised she got anyone to get through to the chorus with the bland, dreadful, boring verse. I also think her voice is more tolerable in "Powerless" for pop listeners. I don't think any of her songs are that pop friendly, her success has surprised me. But I believe if "Like a Bird" can do it, so can "Powerless."
On another random note, I do think this song sounds a lot like "Send Me on My Way" by Rusted Root when she says "Say What You Want."

I still think it'll have a slow climb, like I'm Like A Bird had.

i agree with the fact that powerless is not pop friendly. but as for quality it is one of the best songs out right now. it sounds like nothing else on pop radio right now. and nelly is pretty popular from her 1st album. so i am not too worried about this song yet. i think it will gain slowly but still peak top 20.

I think it is radio friendly, not very pop friendly though. I think it will reach the top 20 at least

I was quite turned off by this song when I first heard it because it was so different from the other stuff out there, but now I am slowly liking this song more and more...
