I debated putting this in The Polling Booth, but I went for here instead--spank me if I'm wrong. But they all are CHR/Pop hits! 1The lesson learned was so hard to swallow. 2You're no picnic either, babe; that's one of the things I loved about you. 3Listen to me; you better listen to me now. 4Take your time, think it over, let me know. 5I don't know where I can go to let these ghosts out of my skull. 6We've got to face it heart to heart; we have to make a brand new start. 7It's easy when you're sad--sad like me! 8I find myself telling you things I don't even tell my best friend. 9I'm sick of fighting, even though I know I should. 10But now I've got you in the corner of my eye. 11It takes more strength to cry--admit defeat. 12We've had our problems but I'm on your side. 13I though I loved you but, I'm not sure now. 14You better not stop them 'cause they're comin' through. 15I'm not denying there's a time for crying. 16This pain I have inside just makes me want to die for you. 17I don't know and I don't care if I ever will see you again. 18She was my one temptation; no I did not want her to stay. 19No one's pushin' me through that door. 20One for all and all for one; everybody's on the run. 21She stirs the ice in her glass with her elegant fingers. 22Knot in my stomach and lump in my throat. 23If I don't stop, the next one's gonna be me. 24Just give me till then to give up this fight. 25Waves that leave me out of reach; breaking on your back like a beach.

I was able to come up with a few others, though not sure whether they're all correct:
4. Soul For Real - "Every Little Thing I Do" 9. Is this "Wouldn't It Be Good" by Nick Kershaw? 11. Madonna - "You'll See" 14. The song is "Justified And Ancient" I think, but don't know the artist 20. Paul McCartney - "Spies Like Us" 23. Martika - "Toy Soldiers", I think 25. U2 - "Staring At The Sun" (excellent song!)

Yeccch! I went and listened to a clip of the latter, and am still shuddering! I didn't see the film; was Nik's "real" version used in it, or was it Danny's cover version there as well as on the ST? Hee hee Keith3000, you've blended one Paul song with another! Try again! I'll let somebody else divine who sings "Justified", but will confirm Martika is correct...

Hee hee Keith3000, you've blended one Paul song with another! Try again! Lol! The lyrics "on the run" were in the song so I accidentally wrote those in, confusing it with the famous Wings song! I made the correction though.

It seems that only #1, #3, #5, #6, #13, and #15 are unsolved. I got nothing for #1 or #15 but the others are...
3. Snow -- "Informer" 5. Arrested Development -- "Tennessee" 6. Tracie Spencer -- "This House" 13. Pet Shop Boys -- "Domino Dancing"

I'm stumped on #15, but #1 is "Baby Jane" by Rod Stewart.

#19 is also still up for grabs. Guess it's time for some clues...first, vague ones, then less-vague ones, and then the next line of the song if necessary...
15 The first hit from a two-hit wonder
19 After a string of top-teners, this one just missed.
Vague enough? I will throw in that they're both from the 90s...

19After a string of top-teners, this one just missed. Is #19 "Too Late To Say Goodbye" by Richard Marx? It just missed the Top 10 on the Hot 100 but reached #10 on R&R.

Well crap, if I'm going to give clues, I guess the clues ought to be accurate! For some reason, I was thinking it hit #10 on the Hot 100 and #12 on R&R. But at least you got it anyway! No one's pushin' me through that door But it might as well be a .44 in the night It's too late to say goodbye I'm all out of lies It's too late to say goodbyeSince #15 seems to be permanently flummoxing everyone, I'll do clue #2 now; and then further lyrics ought to (hopefully) end it quickly, if this clue doesn't help: This hit made the Top 10, but his followup stalled in the 20s, and its followup stalled in New & Active. His second (and presumably final) album bombed utterly...it had one single which got spun on a handful of stations, but didn't make New & Active. Meanwhile, he continued to keep his day job: acting.

Okay, next line now, and I'll take it all the way to the chorus (if necessary) the next time I sign on...
I'm not denying there's a time for crying Just tell me why you look so sad tonight

Well that next line made all the difference. The song is "Nothing My Love Can't Fix" by Joey Lawrence, from 1993.
The follow-up song Daniel mentioned was "Stay Forever". Even though that song looked promising at first, debuting at 32, it ran out of gas at around #24 (I think). I don't remember the follow-up that stalled in N&A, since I wasn't subscribing to R&R (I started in late 1996).
You mentioned that Joey Lawrence is an actor. I remember when he was on "Gimme A Break" as Chief's son (I believe). I also remember around that time that he starred in a movie that looked sort of like a horror movie. I don't remember much of it, but I recall something about being trapped in a room. I don't even know if it was Joey.

:::applause::: Checking imdb.com, the movie you're thinking of is probably (ironically) "Pulse", which came out in 1988. He currently stars in some lame WB sitcom (soon to be canceled I'm sure), and also has a recurring role on American Dreams. As for single #3, it was "I Can't Help Myself", which got to #69 in my compendium. My curiosity got the best of me, and I had to scour the internet for the name of the first single from his second album (which I'd mentioned made it onto a handful of stations). His second album was released in 1997 and the single was called "Ven Ven Conmigo". He sounds like he's Enrique, even before Enrique hit the charts! Curious folk can listen here: mitglied.lycos.de/joeylawrencefanpage/music.html
