All Access has listed that Switchfoot's "Meant To Live" is going for pop adds on December 9!! This is such great news. I think that this song really has some pop appeal and could easily be a top 30 hit if given half of a chance. Great to see the boys of Switchfoot moving from Christian to Alternative to now pop!!!

Great! This song is very suitable for pop, but I predict #16.

I figure it suits the format well... so it should have no problems making the top 40. I'll predict a peak of #36.

They're not the only ones to do that this year coughEvanescencecough :)
I like the song. I don't know how big it would be on pop but it's massive already. They're still big in the Christian charts too.
They've got 2 songs that are in the top of the Christian CHR and Christian Rock charts Gone and Ammunition. Never really heard of them before Meant to Live, but next year, they'll be artists to watch.

It's about time!
With its steady growth continuing at Alternative, I believe Switchfoot can heavily impact CHR/Pop. There's reason to believe "Meant To Live" is "meant to" go Top 10 with the momentum it has.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

It could go Top 10 or it could perform like the Alternative hits "Somewhere Out There," "Running Away," and "Like A Stone" and peak in the 20s or worse. According to CDNow, Switchfoot is on their fourth album, with release years 1997, 1999, 2000, and February 25, 2003 for the current album.

Does anybody know if Columbia is working the song or if it's still Red Ink?
I don't think the latter has much experience at working songs at Pop.
Peace out, Andree

Mediabase says Red Ink/Columbia. Anybody want to make adds predictions in this topic? It goes 187-144. On its two leaders which provide 27 out of its 32 spins, it's only being played P.M., Evenings, and overnights. It's not hard rock or rap, and I don't think there should be a problem with playing it during the workday. Stacie Orrico is another Christian artist and her leaders play "(There's Gotta Be) More To Life" in all dayparts.

Stacie Orrico is another Christian artist and her leaders play "(There's Gotta Be) More To Life" in all dayparts. You can't compare Stacie Orrico's very "poppy" song to Switchfoot's alternative song. They are on two completely different levels. And besides, a lot of stations start new songs by "new" artists in their evening/overnight slots before moving them into the daytime.

This is a really catchy song. I think it will go Top 10. It sounds like something Pop would pick up on.

And it still has a bullet four and a half months after going for adds. Predictions of Number 36 are wrong and predictions of Top 10 are doubtful. It could peak in the 20s like I said it could.

It's odd how most alternative hits peak in the #20-24 range. Switchfoot has been stuck around #25 for a while, this week they will finally be #22. The song still has a low bullet, but I can't tell if it's done or not. There still is a chance for them making top 20 but they are going to have to maintain a bullet and Outkast, Nickelback, and Linkin Park are all going to have to fall a little faster before Sean Paul comes up. Either way "Meant To Live" has had impressive longetivity and will more than likely be at least in the top 60 for the yearend.

More punk sounding songs tend to peak in the 16-20 range it seems.

This song is really great, the catchiness has gotten a hold of me for quite some time now.
I feel extremely bad that I once degraded this song by saying that it didn't have any appeal. Boy, was I foolish.

This lost 22 spins from last night, but this isn't the first time it's done that only to bounce back. This'll definitely be at least #12 by the end of the week and has a fair chance of being #11. I'm gonna predict it'll peak at #11, but it'll have a fairly slow drop once it does.

Mandy Moore must be happy! ??? I thought a different song was on the A Walk to Remember soundtrack. (Was it "Dare You to Move"?)

I can't believe this song is still going. This has been on the charts forever. I know but I got this one late...I feel it deserves at least Top 10 but I would not be opposed to this song getting #1.
