With all this talk of AT40 switching sources to whatever it will be, it got me thinking...
What exactly is the cost of using Mediabase 24/7's Sunday update for a countdown / chart, just like Rick Dees does (sometimes) and AT40 used to?
For sure it isn't free; I thought I heard some outrageous figure like $500,000 a year, but that might be mistaken for Billboard's Hot 100 chart. I'm not sure.
Could someone help me out with this one?

I recall that R&R's chart was free for AT40 when it was reborn in 1998... of course, that was before R&R started using Mediabase data for their charts.
I guess what I'm saying is, I don't know. I'll shut up now... :)

If the chart is available to the public, they shouldn't have a problem with a person using it not-for-profit (that doesn't mean they don't). If we make our own show, they could consider it taking away listeners from the countdowns that pay them.

Well, AT40 and Rick can probably use the chart for free. Mediabase is owned by Premiere Radio Networks which is owned by Clear Channel. Premiere is also the company that distributes AT40 and Dees.
As for others that want to use it, it probably depends on how large an audience there is, how much money you're making off of it.. stuff like that.

Well the audience of board members would be very small compared to how many listeners American Top 40 has in the country. No radio station will think they're losing listeners to HamJerzee.
