How long is the R&R magazine, how much does it cost, and where can I get it?
How detailed are the station playlists? Do they have weekly adds? Is it just for the CHR/POP format? What are all the features?

What are all the features? Here's what I know: I don't believe it's available at newstands (or if it is then I haven't seen it), so you would need to order a subscription. I believe they have weekly adds, and no, it's not just for the CHR/Pop format.

The last issue I got (December 5) is 84 pages long, standard magazine size (about the size of an ESPN magazine. Newsstand price is $6.50. I think it is available at certain places, probably in big cities because I haven't seen one anywhere either. - They used to have playlists for all the stations, but now they just have a list of the stations and the songs they added.
- There are also such features as top 50, top 50 indicator, new & active, most added, most increased plays, most played recurrents, and RateTheMusic.com and Callout America results for some formats.
- MTV, MTV2, VH1, Fuse, other video channel playlists.
- Columns for each format talking about the chart in general.
- Probably some other things too, I don't think I got all of them.
Billboard has many more charts than R&R, but they don't give you as much information in each.

There is newstand circulation, but it is extremely limited. The only retailer I know of who sells R&R (in my area, Boston, that is) is Tower Records. All of the other record chains and big book chains (i.e. Barnes and Noble, Borders), only sell Billboard.

When I started subscribing back in 1997, they also had a quarterly rate (it was $80 at the time). That's what I did just to check it out instead of paying for a whole year. I liked it, so I did subscribe for a whole year, but then dropped it after that since I was already subscribing to Billboard's Airplay Monitor, and it was too expensive for me to continue subscribing to both.

Where is the Tower Records? Sorry, I just never knew we have one in this area! You're in the Boston area, Ted? There are, in fact, two Tower Records in the area: one in Cambridge and one in Burlington. Check out the store locator at www.towerrecords.com.

I get it at Shinder's newspaper store in downtown Minneapolis I have been getting there since 1995. If you live in Nashville you can also find it at Moskow's & Tower Records. As for the playlist just simply use your computer to check 'em at their website of course.

Well, yeah, for us, but remember it is a trade publication (like Billboard), aimed primarily at radio stations and record companies (who can more easily afford $325 a year). I'd like to renew when my comp subscription runs out in January, but I don't think I can afford it now.

It cost me $450 CDN a year!! But I figured since I don't drink or smoke or spend alot on many other things I'll go for it.
Its kind of funny that my subscription ran from the time the R&R message boards opened in the summer of 2000 to this past September when they shut down.

There are also quarterly subscriptions(13 weeks) available for $85, which is what I've been buying the entire time I've been getting the magazine.
