On this week's chart, "There's Gotta Be More To Life" is #9. However, the song is now losing over -1000 spins and will almost certainly be out of the top 20 by the end of the two week break. This means it will go from #9 to recurrent on the first official R&R chart of 2004. That would easily be a record, right?

I'm not sure, but haven't other songs come close to doing the same thing with the two week break?

This is sad, I just now realized that she was dropping that fast, last time I checked it was only around -600 :o I think the old record was #8 or 9, it was either Janet or J-Lo, but I can't really remember all that much.

I was not expecting this song to have a fast fall. :(

But it did take a long time to get to its peak.

I'm actually quite glad, cos i was sure that this song would give 'I promise' major recurrentitis. It's been a hit, done what it needed to do, let it die now.

Don't know what the, official, R&R record is. But I can name a few AT40 incidents.
If it falls off from #9, that would beat Janet's "Doesn't Really Matter", which fell off from #10. Of course, that was when AT40 was using that "weird" Mediabase chart with the "we'll kick 'em off whenever the heck we feel like it" (or so it seemed) recurrent rule.
The all time record for biggest drop from the Top 40 (for AT40 records that is) happened back in 1982 when Air Supply's "Even The Nights Are Better" fell of from #6. It actually fell 6-42, as AT40 was using the Billboard Hot 100 at the time. Also, there were no recurrent rules and chart movements were much faster back then.

Enya's Only Time went recurrent from #13 in 2001.

I thought recurrents weren't removed over the break...although it seems some are and some aren't...

I thought recurrents weren't removed over the break...although it seems some are and some aren't... Exactly. On this week's chart(the last official one for three weeks), "TGBMTL" is #9. So she'll easily be below #20(and therefore taken off) by the next official chart.

But it did take a long time to get to its peak. Yeah, and songs like that tend to fall slowly as well. Plus, Stacie doesn't have a new song that's burning up the charts, does she? If not, then it's odd that she's falling slowly. As I said in several other threads, I do a chart project that focuses on songs that are in the year end top 40. Since my time frame is January through December, using R&R's list has proved nearly impossible, so I use the last Year-To-Date update by Mediabase (since for some reason, their year end chart uses the same time frame as R&R even though their YTD charts start on New Years' Day). At first, I was sure that "More To Life" was going to be in the Top 40 for the year, but now it looks like she isn't. And I've already constructed the chart runs, too. Oh well...

I wanted to hear her "I Promise." I looked in the Christian section on All Access and it wasn't there.

Now Stacie HAS to stop falling so fast to make the Top 40 for the year. Of course, since she was played on the AT40 year end special, she might not fall as fast as she would have otherwise, but still. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Mediabase's year end list briefly reflect airplay from January 1 through December 31? It seems to me that it was like that for awhile this past summer. Well, whether or not it was, it's back to the December 2001 through November 2002 time frame. And it is possible that during the half-week at the end of the year (December 28 through December 31) Stacie could get enough airplay (especially on the Rick Dees show) to barely make the Top 40, but we may never know. It could be that the best I can do is to just use the final Mediabase Year-To-Date update. Oh well. If, by chance, someone knows how to get a Mediabase year-end survey with the calendar year time frame, please let me know, either via private message or here on the boards. Thanks in advance!

Although not a record, I remember back in 1984 when "Doctor Doctor" by the Thompson Twins plunged from something like #12 straight out of the 40 all in one week.

That must have been on Billboard, because I don't remember such a drop on the R&R chart, though that song did fall fast. I guess it got a little recurrentitis from "Hold Me Now".

It fell to #19 on the first week back and was sent to recurrent from there.

Yep, and it didn't make the Top 40 of the year. But it came close.
