Reported by All Access Net News and R&R: Oldies WTKL-FM has changed formats to a simulcast of News/Talk WWL-AM. Both stations are owned by Entercom. The Oldies format will be available to listen to online.

The "Kool 105.3" era did not last long, and that doesn't surprise me. I am one of the people who liked being able to hear WWL on FM. From what I've heard (I don't listen to oldies), the playlist was stale and the station lost much of the "local charm" it enjoyed in the past. This kinda makes AM obsolete for me since WWL was the only AM station I ever tuned to.
In more New Orleans radio news.....
If the rumors are true, New Orleans will lose a heritage Classic Rocker and gain another news/talk station. 99.5 WRNO is scheduled to flip to a new format in just days from now. That format is predicted to be news/talk. If true, CC better be ready for an uphill battle, as it will prove difficult to unseat WWL as the "News, Talk, & Sports Leader" in New Orleans.

I'm usually not a fan of AM stations simulcasting on FM unless their are signal issues in the primary coverage areas. Doesn't 870 penetrate well enough in most New Orleans buildings?
